    Thanks very much guys.

First off, I've been working on the wood to fix that huge mistake i told you guys about. First thing was to cut off these tenons. This breaks my heart actually:

I'll leave a little nubb though:

Oh, for those interested, this is my chisel sharpening setup. I would need them for the next step:

The rail can now be removed easily but what keeps it in place you may ask? Well here is the peg side of the hole:

Magnets will keep it in place. One on the rail and one on the peg. The next step is to make the peg. Like this:

It had to be this shape to fit in perfectly, this took a while. Cut off it looks like this:

    Poking through:

    Look, they match:

One more to go of those but I have some goodies to show off.

First off, my motherboard came, ooo, ahhh:

And then I got a nice present from the fine folks at Corsair Memory. I'd like to thank them very much for this:

And Whoa, these things are huge:

I'll be modding that fan thing of course, I'd expect some koa and ebony :D

Thats all for now, lots to do, and little time. I'm going to the powder coaters eventually to try to salvage the mess :waah: Stay tuned

I figured I'd do another little update with a few teasers of what i'm working on.

The ram cooler: Koa veneer plus ebony = sweetness:

And a little thing i put off until i got the mobo, the I/O shield. I'll be milling this out of a thin piece of alu that i found in the shop:

    Enjoy

    Beautiful

The work you're doing is awesome. Japanese joinery has always been fascinating to me. I plan to some day build a Japanese tea house underneath my deck and put a garden in. The yard is so small and steep, but a Japanese garden will go very well, what with the small (1 ft wide) stream running through.

Hey, Yuugou would look veri nize on tatami......

Thanks very very much guys. The powder coat is coming back today so we'll see how it turned out.

Ah yes, the ebony, one of my favorite woods really. When i bought it a couple years ago, it was $13 US a pound which translate to an S-load given that its a very dense wood. I have a really good supplier though so no worries here. Their stack of ebony must be worth thousands.

I really want to do something like that too. Hopefully when I'm older I'll be able to build a shop on my property and naturally I'll have a hand tool shop and machine tool shop. It seems fit that the hand tool shop be made in the traditional Japanese way. Good luck with your project, I'm a big fan of small Japanese courtyard gardens like that.

I get tools from a lot of different places depending on what I am looking for and the quality level I am going for. A nice place to start is

Japanwoodworker.com I got my sharpening stones from here
misugidesigns.com is where I got my saws. The owner Kayoko is very nice and knowledgable. I recently purchased a $550 saw from there which is still being made. Some more good sites for Japanese tools are

    Hidatool.com
    Japantool-iida.com

You can also get it from individual people who have relationships with the blacksmiths themselves. This is nice if you want to get the right tools for your preferences and skill level and this is what I am doing now.

Thanks very much, I've been watching your project also and its coming along nicely.

I was only going to do teasers of the powdercoat but it looks so hot that I can't help myself. But first, I almost finished the Corsair Memory fan mod.

I split the ebony piece and now I'll glue up a koa and ebony sandwich. You have to glue veneer on both sides or else it may bow or cup.

    All glued up:

    And holes drilled:

    and more holes:

With the first coat of finish:

And now for your viewing pleasure. A slide show of a lot of the powder coated pieces. No words needed.
