HI guys Im building a ITX PC looking for some advice on parts got an i5 K but want an Z77 MOBO for expansion options. Looking at the value end of the market and tips on things like PSU with short cables ect. Other good cases besides Bitfenix. hOW MANY Watts I need to run a 550ti/660ti Cheers!
ITX and expansion should never be in the same sentence. Unless you mean the z77 for ivy bridge compatibility..?
You're irish, all is forgiven . (Didn't mean that in a racist way btw). And MUST you go mini ITX ? If you can get away with MATX it is preffered, due to the wider compatibility. With mini itx you have to be very careful with a lot of after market coolers due to the mobo's layouts. ~ Also value, mini itx holds a premium given its size, work that out :/
SO basically I need help finding the right PSU/GPU combination and any tips on getting like a 560 used for under 100 would be great. Like I said I heard that there are short cable PSU for this sort of build, but do not know how to find them.
In my experience you would be fine with a fully modular PSU as then you will only use the cables you need and don't have to hide a tonne you won't be using. As for power, it all depends on the GPU but I would stick my neck out and say that you would be fine with 450w + depending on the card. Case wise there are others available to build itx in like Silverstone Sugo range etc, but imo the Prodigy is the nicest looking and build wise too, its so flexible but tiny too!
450W is fine for a GeForce 560 system. I'm not entirely sure if there are modular units available at that size, and even if there are, they are going to cost quite a bit more than other units. On the other hand, you should be able to tuck away the useless cables pretty easily. Maybe they can fit in an unused 5.25" bay or something?
cheers guys keep the tips coming Any one know if there is enough room for windforce coolers (gigabyte) I think they are a little bit more then 2 slots tall. In the bitfenox case
