Congratulations on a well deserved win. Best of luck trying to fend off all the "will you cut this for me" requests for handouts.

I don't know when I get it exactly (Soon I hope)
How difficult? Yoshi said it's as easy as a USB printer (kinda)
You basicly have to tell it how thick the object is, and create the right type of vector file for it to print, other then that it's pretty automatic.

Kong, in fact I have two friends at work who love your CNC and are planning to build their own.
The laser can't do metal, so a CNC would still be usefull.

Congradulations Zap. I think the best candidate won, just the way things should happen.

I was very impressed in the early stages of the crimsonsky's project but it really ruined it for me when he attached the sculpture to a rectangular case. If it was something more organinc and cool I would have been happier. If his whole project lived up to the standards he set earlyon, my vote may have changed. As things stood though, your mod as a whole was just superior imo All muck-raking aside, I'm happy that everyone picked the right mod.

    MORE POWER!!!

I'm sure you could do it with a pulsing circuit and some heavy duty caps...

    Does it run on 220?

Maybe you could go over the cut again and again so it eventually cut....

it will be interesting to see the electric bill for it ;)

    No, Malcs I didn't forget.
I will post in your project log once I get the machine up and running.
It would be perfect as it has the ability to both etch on the labels for the buttons, then go back and cut each one out.

It says it will "mark" metal, so I don't think it's a very deep etch.
BUT it will cut metal film, which means if I want an alluminum look I can buy metal coated paper, and then put that behind plexi.
    Vola plexi-over-allumunum look!

It runs off of 110volts, but it says it requires 1000-watts.
(Hmm, better make sure the aparment wall plugs arn't rusty)

The very first thing I plan to make in there?

    But with more detail.

Well done. It's good that you're gonna help the community with this. I could do with some uber-cheap laser cutting :naughty:

Zap, maybe you could write a review on the cutter, either for your website or for bit-tech?
