I have gamed on it, and there is no ghosting that I can see. I don't know the exact response time, as there are no model numbers on the LCD. No plans to upgrade the LCD, I am onto other projects now. That is a temporary normal VGA cable, the custom connector is on it's way to be installed. (Mentioned in the thread)
Phew... Two days ploughing through this entire thread, and what can I say? This is without a doubt the schweetest mod I have ever seen. [/obligatory sucking-up] (I can say that Orac isn't quick finished yet... That'll be a potential rival) Congrats on all the comps you've won, for all the work you've put in, and thanks for the seriously interesting read. Now all you have to do is talk AMD or someone else to run a LAN event in Northern Ireland, and I will elevate you to the status of deity
little explanation... Ok, maybe, the answers are in the previews posts but if so, I didn't get it, maybe it come from the fact that my mother languish isn't english. It's mostly about the headphone: 1:What was it intend to do berfore you mod it? What was is primaly use? Did it have the four speaker since the beginning. If so, what was the utility of four in is intend use? 2:you seems to have changed the angles of the speakers. How was it before? Am I wrong or do they form a plane now (180°)? why did you have to change it? 3:If I have well understand (I hope I do ), you seem to have bass in it. How do you do that?(Well I ask that, but maybe I won't understand the explanation ) Ho, by the way, great mod
1: I built the headphones for quadraphonic gaming on my SBLive (Original). I played counterstrike at the time (Early days) Later I build a dolby digital mixing box that took in an optical signal, and mixed them for four speaker sound. (Using my own technique for spatializing the sound) 2: The original speakers were at 45degree, above and below the ear level. I changed them to 45 degree's front and back. Later I replaced the speakers with largeer more powerful titanium 1" drivers. Because of their size they had to be parallel with the users' ear. But that actualy ended with a little more distance between them, at a cost of running them louder. 3: I tried a few bass mods, using motors and coils, but didn't achive the effect I wanted. So there is a mixer circuit that enhances the bass on all channels.
wow I read about this mod when it was being done and thought it was damn brilliant but now that you have upgraded it to cope with halflife 2 ( when it comes out ) well words fail me apart from nice work Zap I can't wait to see what that mind out yours will dream up next
People worship you, I'm sure u can get some gamers to carry your stuff around for you. They would be honored to be allowed to carry ur ammo-case-pc L
Indeed this is looks fantastic, no question about that. But I don't think u can compare it to Orac project. Because this is supposed to NOT look like a pc. while Orac is supposed to look like a from-the-future advanced computer. Right? Q ::edit:: sorry for my 2 posts in a row...
I agree, Orac is in a different catagory, he is doing a great job on it. (My next project is going to be a futuristic PC though)
Instead of competing, you guys could work together! <begin foolish idea> G-Gnome packs up his tools and takes a plane to Austin. Using the VersaLaser, G-Gnome and Zap make a case. Zap makes all sorts of nifty electronic stuff. G-Gnome makes wires and stuff to go in the case. Zap and G-Gnome have the best case EVER. <end foolish idea> EDIT: And BladeRunner can come too and make watercooling for it!
how about we get everyone to work together on a project, and we auction off the result at the end... how many great ideas are there in these forums, and the forum's regular's heads? we must be able to do something cool /hijack
The main problem is transportation and lodging. For the UK guys that wouldn't be a problem, but for americans we're spread out so far that there's no single place that we would all be able to get to. Although we could have a mod contest. We would split the forums up into teams of three (all of which would be within 1 hours driving time) and each team would make a case and the best case wins. However we would have to set it up so that the groups are pretty evenly matched, i.e. there won't be a group with mashie, g-gnome, and zapwizard.
Would be kinda hard for those three to get their heads together to design a case anyway - Zap's in Texas, G-Gnome's antipodean IIRC and Mashie hails from this fair and pleasant land. But imagine what the combined might of their modding skills could do God I'm bored
wooow Can't stand the competion hugh ? Lol J/K Good luck, I will sure to follow that one , day by day aswell. As I do with all your projects. L
Hey Zap, what kind of 3d marks you get with that card? I want to use that card for a lan rig too and I would rather get a low profile card than a riser but I want to know if it can keep up with the full sized cards. Also could you post some pictures of the inside of the lan pc with the card installed, I looked on your website but couldnt find any.
I have a review of the card here: http://www.zapwizard.com/lanpc/PCReview/index.html I benchmarked it against all the other cards I had. (5950, 5600, 9200) But lots the number I had written down. It was almost as good as a FX5600, and twice as fast as the 9200 I had. It also runs very cold, and overclocked well, so you can boost it up a little. Just be aware not to chip the die on the card, as noted in my review. There is also an image of the card like you requested in the review:
Zapwizard... long time no see.. Project looks SICK good to see that you are still making uber cool looking rigs
Hey, thanks for the answers. One last tough: now that I have reread this project and see your site, I have understand that you had use a secret and "mysteeeriouss" (wingle fingers) method to make your headphones sound like a hometheatre, and that you keeped it to perhaps make a commercial use. My question is: has this project been concreeded? I mean, If I could get a whole home set in a headphone, I'd certainly bought it: No problems with misplacing speakers and more important, a realy great price gain. I'm sure this will be realy cheaper than a wole instalation... Well, enough, when will you sell it?
When the headphones are run of my PC they are just plain old quadraphonic. If I want to use them in a Dolby Digital mode I use the mixer box I made (On my website) Zalman of course now makes headphones with 6 speakers. They get bad reviews when connected to a normal motherboard, but I listened to them using their USB Sound Card that they sell, and I though they were good when using their sound card.
