what i am thinking......was it one of your aims for it to be silent? i hope not, because you'll need a lot of 80mm for that lot......

    no room for watercooling

    No...:worried:...this is a Media PC.
Or a HTPC, Home theatre PC.
It will sit with my home theatre equipment.
So it can weigh a ton for all I care.

Since the hardware kept changing, I hadn't cut the plexi yet.
It should be coming along soon.
Plus is has finaly warmed up here, so I can work outside.

The air flow of the case is working out very well.
The air intake will be a slit at the back of each card.
All the air will pass through the PSU fan, and out the back of the PC.
The case will have only three fans.
The PSU, the CPU, and the GPU.
    It is totaly silent.
For all the other parts that get warm I am adding heatsinks.
I already have added large heatsinks to the NB and SB, along with the Chip on the SB-Live.
All the other chips don't get over 90 degree's (F)

So far the only fan that is remotly noisy is the PSU fan.
I will replace it with a more efficient, and quitier fan later.

Believe it or not it is only 200-watts.
I have been monitoring the Amp's and heat on the PSU every time I change the configuration.
So far it runs VERY cool, and the voltage levels are stable.
It only cost $10 so if I have to replace it later, oh well no loss.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of monday the very last of the electronic parts is ariving, I hope to start work on the plexi by next week end.

btw, i'm looking for a new heatsink for me athlon xp 2000 - you said your new one rocks, so i'm assuming its recommended, but you didn't say exactly what heatsink it is.

    *edit*
one more thing: what are you going to be using with this computer? i mean like are you gonna use some nice 5.1 speakers, or a home surround sound junk whatever thingymadoochie :eyebrow: :D and a monitor or a tv or both?

Zap, keep up the excellent work mate; this is shaping up to be one of the best projects I've seen yet, and definately the best HTPC.

    Peace

I got the heatsink second hand, so I don't know the brand.
The fan has a Dynatron sticker on it.
It has 11 blades, says "Top Motor", Ball Bearing and 4500RPM.
The heatsink is all aluminum, without a copper core.
The fins on the heatsink are super thin.
I was told it out-performs most copper core heatsinks.
But not a pure copper heatsink.

All I know is my temps dropped by 4 degree's
Even with just one fan, running at 7-volts.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
For the speakers I am going to use a set of Altec Lansing 880 speakers.
I have been using these as my main speakers for years, and I love them.
They have a Dolby Digital decode built in, plus a HUGE subwoofer.
Plus they have a remote control.

    Here is a mini review:

I have modified them to be black, with Red LED's

    DDDDAAAUMMMMMM nice work bro!

And yes work experience does help. My dad has been doing electronic/electrical work since he joined the Navy in....I believe '83.....anyway, experience does help, though the simple basics will get you by on a suprisingly large amount, :naughty: :naughty:
