I've been using it for a couple days now. Every time I leave and come back to it just gets better, I'm completely impressed with this iteration. Now, I can't but help wonder why MS still hangs on to WMP.
I like the Zune software, I have a Zune 80... but I have a Mac. The only time I use the Zune software is when I boot into XP to update the music on my Zune. Bloody annoying! I wish Micro$oft would just release it with Mac support. Then my life would be better
As much as I would agree (and how about Linux version, as well), let's think about it in a business point of view. I mean that is what Microsoft is. Mac is about 10-15% market share. This is very low, also how many Mac users actually has a Zune? VERY few.. maybe 1-2% including people that are mildly interested in the device. Spend several million dollars on a software for 1-2% and maintain it, is simply not worth it. And I am SURE that the software will be like what iTunes is on a PC.. this monster of application that eat your system power like crazy. I am not sure you would find that not fun to use, like many PC iTunes users are feeling.
Honestly I haven't seen a huge difference inthe new software except from a facelift. That and it now runs a lot slower on older computers.
Nah, I just DL'd it to update my Zune 80. It it turned out to be a pleasant little surprise. After playing with it a bit more, I find that the video codec support isn't at a satisfactory level yet. Plays about 2/3 of the formats I use.
Based on reviews, Zune HD is an amazing device at a hardware level, and does deliver. It's down side is that the web browser is apparently slower than the iTouch. Of course no Flash support, but that is Adobe fault. You see the speed of Adobe with it's promised GPU rendering support, 64-bit, and the no action from the part of Adobe into support a widely used device such as the iTouch and iPhone. I personally think Adobe doesn't care about Flash at all. Perhaps Silverlight will take over Flash.
