k!NOTE: i will finish rtx, just i need a computer at my dads house, and i can't ubild a computer over there till i have this case done, and i already have a case here and a computer so priorities!
im still in the middle of another mod
    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=135385
    rtx.
It is a learning experience for me. I just wan'ted to see if i could do a lot of the things that i see at bit-tech.
Once again, im 15, and am building a shop and love to use tools.

I am modding a completely acrilic case. I don't want to do much modding to the case itself, as my dad bought me all the parts and i don't want the plexi to crack.

Also, i should mention that i have about 1 or 2 weeks to do this mod. Im not doing anythign spectacular, just making it more interesting.

My chuck on my drill press starrted wabbling, because my brother f*ucked it up. THis time, i benefited from his ignorance! a new hitachi drill press. Its beautifull!

I sanded the front drive covers. I love the look, it looks so. so. elegant! Note that they are not done. Most of this mod will be on the front.

    hmmm, looks like potential.
i loved your other mood, im looking forward to this one.
btw, i think you should fix up some sort of rig so you get the grain all the same on the front drivebay covers.
edit-addition: you should also create some plexi/acrylic pci covers.(theres a small guide in b-t somewhere for both my suggestions)

    youre quite welcome.

as i meant for the grain on the drive bay covers, they should be going in the same direction. i see that they are now, but in the 6th picture, you see the strokes at varying angles. bit that this is a big problem(it still looks great, imo) but its just one small thing you can do to improve.
but i do not know of what you have planned, so i will wait.
    have fun :dremel:

p.s. i MIGHT swap my task force scroll saw for the hitachi one, im loving hitachi tools, and im having trouble with my scroll saw(nothing serious)

You will probably want to change the tiny ass screws on the sides of that case. I hate those things. It's next to impossible to not strip the heads out. Find some flathead or torx screws. (Can you tell I have one of those cases?)

You have started your 2nd build in only 4 months?!?!? Change your name to 'speedy' too!

Update 1: working on front panel covers!
Shot with COOLPIX P4 at 2007-08-03
returned all my task force stuff and upgraded to hitachi.
So far, it has been a very worthy investment! man hitachi is perfect! it lets me do whatever i want, with precision.

wow this is a beast! compared to task force... this is it hooked up to my shop vac. I can't believe it came with a stand!!!

The topmost panel besides the dvd rom, drilling a 3/4" hole in it and drilling holes/ depth stop to about 1/16" from the bottum for led's.
Clean hole! i just cut this and it needs to be sanded obviously lol.(already done) a power switch will go in the center

i love these clapms :D great for acrilic, my c clamps scrachted everything!

This will go below the power switch. Look at that scroll saw work! note that was on the task force(even better work coming with the hitachi)
it looks so... ordinary from a pic, right?
Shot with COOLPIX P4 at 2007-08-03
well... my friends! look at how small it is! the thickness of each of 3 lines is 1/8" thick lol! obviously not tribal status, but pretty good for that scroll saw and for me!

after lots of measurments... here is where i am! Note that this took hourse of drawing, and days of cutting. I need to sand this and i will polish the stuff later. Im go ing to cut all the stuff out now then get a mirror finish later(hopefully)

Here is the rear. You can see i have lots of L.E.D. soldering to do :D it will look soo cool in the end

Wait! but the bottum one is bare!

Thats where i am right now. Still have not even touched a file to it yet, still need to do that. Keep in mind this will look 100 times better once filed!(and finished cutting) lol.

So this isn't a full update, just this thread doens't have enough pics. Later!

i have those exact same sorry ass clamps that came with my black and decker dremel. the only way i can get them to not scratch anything that clamp on to is to sandwich it with folded up pieces of paper >.<

    BTW, nice scroll saw.

Hitachi tools are awesome. All I will buy now. I agree with elbarto241, those spring clamps blow. Get some Irwin Quick-grips.
Nice start so far. I like that scroll saw. My friend is giving me his old hawk scroll saw or I would buy an Hitachi. But I can't pass up someone giving me a $900 scroll saw. He picked up a new Hawk for $1300!!!!! Only problem is I'll have to wait until late September when I go up to Minnesota where he lives. I go up there every May and September fishing.

LOL. Try an Irwin Quick-clamp, if you love those clamps you have now, you'll wanna shag the Irwin's. Yeah, I'm excited about the Hawk. They are the best you can get. Most scroll's stroke is only 5/32 ", the Hawk's is 7/8" and a higher SPM (stroke per minute)....he he he, I said stroke. The longer stroke prevents heating up even though they move quicker and prevents build up of saw dust so it doesn't get trapped in your cuts and you basically don't have to do any sanding after you're done cutting, plus they use exacting tension on the blade automatically which is guaranteed to never weaken. I want it NOW! I was thinking of paying for freight to get it here asap.
You're doing pretty good with what you got and those Hitachi's are nothing to bark at. My buddy insisted on Milwaukee forever until I told him to use my cordless drill for a day. He went out the following week and got an Hitachi cordless drill, mitre saw and table saw...LOL.

haah. wait a month or two and then tell me how you like those clamps ^.^
the rubber wears out and the clamps start scratching everything they clamp on too, very annoying.
