Price is really high, but I wonder if they are hoping enough sells to make back some money then drop the price of the Titan and every card in the 7xx series.

I'm not expecting any favours for nvidia with the 770.

Given the price of the 780, the 770 is likely to be £400+ and a smidge faster than a superclocked 680.

I actually see it being slower than a superclocked gtx 680 tbh

HAHAHAHAwhat? Nvidia does not lower prices, at least until idiots quit buying their overpriced products.

And yes - I'm calling anyone who would buy this card for 550 quidditch (over $800 in real money!) an idiot. Not because they're buying a specific brand but rather for their refusal to understand the concepts of "value" and/or "overclocking."

Their software is still better than AMD's (though that gap is actually closing) but other than that - oh, and PhysX, the biggest game-changing technology since Power over ESATA and Microsoft BOB...

The only idiot is the person insulting others for not having the same opinion as him.

Whilst I can't help agree with your sentiment (being financially challenged myself), the Titans and 780s of this world represent the best single card performance money can buy - so for those perfectionists for whom money is less of an issue they represent the only options.

When you buy a £30k German saloon you aren't getting twice as much car as you would buying a £15k French one, but it'll be a bit quicker. I don't drive a £30k German saloon and nor can I afford a top-end GPU - but if I could I would own both ;)

£550 is too much to be considered a normal high end card - it goes in the stupidly expensive pot for people with more money then sense.

Hence this generation brings nothing - the GTX 770 is just a GTX 680 and will cost about the same so effectively the GTX 680 is still the high end card, competing with 7970 - nothing has changed.

The 8800 Ultra cost around £475 at launch and was promptly reduced to £440. Therefore it wouldn't surprise me if we see cards under £500 in the not too distant future...

    I'm not so sure, Nick.

The 680 has dropped about £50 in 14 months, and my EVGA 670 model has dropped a whole £5 in price since I bought it in August!

Graphics cards are a luxury product nvidia can charge what they want for them as it has no rival before the end the year in single Gpu graphics performance. Not like anyone must have a graphics card.

As for a 780 price reduction you can dream as last i checked most uk sellers are already sold out.

Well I'm not expecting it in the next month or two, that's for certain. But once there is more stock in the wild and the vast majority of gamers have worked out that an additional 15fps is fairly wasted when you're already pulling 60+ anyway, I think it's likely.

Admittedly the 680 has only dropped by £50-60 since launch and the 670 by £40, but bear in mind that the 780 is starting at an RRP £120 higher than the 680 did. I'm happy to be proved wrong of course (I won't be buying one because I don't need to), but it wouldn't surprise me.

I agree, and in actual fact, I game on a 30" and a GTX 670 ploughs through just about everything at near max settings, anything more is for those who have money to burn AND won't accept anything less than max settings at all times or more often, simply epeen.

Sure it's but accusing people of buying this card for 'simply epeens' on a PC modding and hardware enthusiast site whilst listing their own high end rigs in their sigs seems a little ironic.

I had forgotten that, actually. Is it still all shiny, though?
