Found one, but it's only a 13" USB monitor and only on Amazon USA.

Conversely, I couldn't see myself going back from ultrawide to a 16:9 or even worse 16:10

I like a taller screen on a laptop but at a desk without the space constraint, love the huge pixel real-estate on my monitor

I think it's the physical size that I'm a little concerned about. 34" UW panels are, more or less, the same vertical size as a 27" 16:9 screen - I'm not losing resolution, but I am getting a smaller vertical height. Of course, the upside is the extra 35% horizontal real estate, and I have a habit of running a film or TV show windowed on one side with a browser window open next to it.

Anyhoo, I'm sure I'll find out very soon - I ordered it at lunchtime today and it's due to arrive tomorrow. Yay for ordering direct from the HP store.

Doing CAD on an ultrawide is amazing! I have one at work and its fantastic. I really want a super ultrawide after seeing them at a customers workshop area, but I can't justify the cost yet!

Ahh I get you - I guess you're going from a 32" 16:9 to a 34" 21:9? I could see you might miss the vertical res in that case.
All else being equal I love the extra width, though. Ooh err.

I don't think I'd get on with a giga-wide (or whatever 32:9 screens are called), but maybe that's just because I wouldn't want to give 2160px and 32" equivalent vertical height, so 8k*2k 56" screen, and and I'm pretty sure that's not a thing, or if it is I'm pretty sure it's not remotely affordable.

Yeah, my 32" 16:9 panel had a minor mishap with a... ballistic spring. The budget is a bit tight, but I cannot deal with the 27" 1080p TV I've had to resort to. The drop in resolution aside, the poor pixel density is surprisingly distracting.

A 34" IPS ultrawide for £320 seems like a reasonable deal. Yes, there are generic Chinese models on Amazon that are considerably cheaper, but they are an unknown quantity - even if this isn't perfect for me, it won't be a bad monitor. It does give up a few features for the price - no USB, medicore stand and only two inputs, but I've never used monitor USB hubs (even when I had them), it'll be going straight onto a monitor arm and I only ever really use two inputs anyway. It is also a decently fast IPS panel, running at 165Hz, and it can manage 10 Bit colours at 144Hz.

Backlight bleed might be an issue, as with a lot of IPS models. We'll see.

Ah, don't put yourself down mate

Funny, at some point I got thinking oh that'd be handy, wish my monitor had one. Must've been well over a year after I had the monitor. For some reason I had my head round the side and noticed a flash of blue. Bloody thing had usb ports all along.

Found the cable in the box after rummaging around and used it a total of one time.

UW does appeal to me in theory, be interested to know your thoughts on the HP.

Samsung literally just launched a 57" 8k2k version of their Odyssey G9 Neo Mini-LED 32:9 R1000 monitor at CES last week.

I have no doubt you're right about its affordable-ness.

Well of course, it is high quality made in Germany after all.

    Oh my, that's rather nice.
I used the old "this will be the last I need for a loooooooooong time so it's okay that its expensive" only two years ago for my U4021QW
But man... that monitor is something. Nearly the full width of my 1600mm desk.

4.5 times more pixels than the 1440p I'm on now, my 1070ti isn’t going to like that…

So, yesterday afternoon, HP told me it will arrive today. Then Parcelfarce sent me an email last night, stating delivery on monday.

    It arrived this morning.

Parcelfarce - even when we do it right, we get it wrong.

In my experience, they are vastly more reliable than Hermes/EVRI.

Time EVRI had a new slogan:

"EVRI, we get it wrong, so you don't have to!"
