Must have gotten Ferrari flashbacks. That was a Scuderia-tier strategic ****up. Monaco Monaco'd so hard that despite the 'chaos' the podium was still the same top 3 in the same order as qualifying.
I don't think it's a great idea. It's a horrible corner, but it throws up a chance for a driver to make a mistake that costs them down the home straight and provide some more natural overtaking.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/65872898 Ferrari win something! With Italian Jesus at the wheel no less. That's going to heap the pressure on the F1 team no end.
With seemingly every class of every motorsport on the planet using a spec tyre supply it seems unlikely. I wouldn't want ot see it again since it would be a repeat of one team getting the A-grade custom tyres and everyone else getting what they're given, or spending so much they put the company into debt (hello Michelin).
From what I've heard discussed it seems Perelli will get the tender again. Bridgestone are unwilling to make tyres that fall to bits. They'll make the best tyres they can that can be pushed on and last. They'll likely have put in a take or leave it tender knowing it's not what Liberty and the FIA want for F1
Contract for next year? Would like to think he negotiated a Q3 or some sort of quali bonus. Sponsors will enjoy the extra coverage
Wait, hold up, do they now have a separate quali for sprint races as well as the regular quali for the full race? Seems a tad daft.
Pff, it's a problem that's (mostly) an Austrian GP problem. They have the same issue in Moto GP, the last corner is fast, downhill and off camber all at the same time, so drivers/riders tend to drift over the outside edge instead of lifting off. A meter wide strip of grass after the curb instead of tarmac would solve the problem.
