Looks a track that's fun to drive but not so much watch a race at. Spoiler According to the Race it was a perfect storm. Pirelli opting for the hard compounds with the track temperature being in the 30s all weekend. It meant teams with great tyre management struggled to get them to switch on leading to sliding and overheating the surface resulting in having to hold back to bring temperatures under control. Teams also ran fairly low drag rear wings for speed on the straights and the low speeds corners doesn't really benefit from large rear wings. Being able to generate heat internally heating the tyre properly then keeping the tyre in the window was key. Notably McLaren's aero inefficiency helped in this regard as they naturally work the tyres that bit harder. Red Bull could get them switched on but it took a few careful laps to get them into the window but it took a few laps and further management not pushing too hard that the tyre surface became a problem and not going too slow that the tyre lost grip and started to slide again causing overheating.
It got pretty tense towards the end, lando could have had him if it wasn't for those couple of wobbles that dropped him back by half a second or so.
