pure awesome Moriquendi. Tell me i know you run a Quadro FX and i think a 8800GTX, so how do you hook it all up? or do you use a video output switch?

Yup QuadroFX 1500 and 8800GTX. One 20" on each and then I swap the 30" between the two, GTX if I'm gaming and Quadro if I'm working. It required a restart but actually works quite well, I have four DVI cables run to the desk where two go to the 20"s and then a single cable with an adapter comes from the 30" to where I can plug and unplug it easily, not the most elegant solution but it saves the £300 for a dual-link DVI switch.

Everything breaks down into easily transportable lumps, the screens go into a custom case (weighs a ton when it's full). Keyboard, mouse and spaceball go in another along with a gigabit switch, router and all the cables so it's not too much hassle to take home at the end of every term.

this is the problem i have been having, i could think of a way to switch between my GTX280 and potentially a FX3450/1400 (yet to purchase due to this)

I would say do it this way, there are dual link DVI switches but along with being very expensive they're also not very reliable according to the reviews that I've read. What I did was to put both cards in and then install the Quadro drivers only, you might lose a little performance with the GTX280 but its less hassle than trying to deal with two lots of drivers.

Does having the daylight/sun in your eyes when viewing the monitor not drive you mad? It would give me such a headache!

It's not that bright, but the curtains do generally get closed at sunset.

What's the box on top of the 360 MShort? I'm guessing at some sort of (HDMI) switch box?

Its a X2VGA 2 High Definition VGA Transcoder, by Neoya, my xbox 360 lacks a hdmi port so i convert component to vga, why might you ask if mircosoft made a cable?, i had it left over from the PS3 before i got the hdmi to dvi, and being the monitor has one dvi and one vga it works well :thumb:

lol a long anwser/explanation to a simple question

Ramble, is that uni halls? If it is I am so jealous of the amount of desk/shelf space you've got. My room last year was like a cupboard with a desk suitable only for Lilliputians.

You lucky *insert bad words here*, have you got a long way to go to lectures? that was one advantage I had, i was only 10 minuets away from classes so I could fall out of bed and stumble in while other people had a 45 minuet walk.

    10-15 mins.
Shorter if I decided to ride my bike (but then I have to deal with pains like locking up and bring two pairs of shoes).

i was considering a wii but the software just hasn't turned out to be what i'd hoped. i've had every nintendo up to this one but the chain has been broken!

i think i'll wait and see what the "wii 2" is like, hopefully they'll beef out the gfx a bit and sort out the control bugs
