I was wondering, how do you get your fps stats in battlefield 3? I want to compare my setup with what's listed in that list.
Yes to this! I would like to replace my 9800GT which runs as a dedicated PhysX card, and supplies the image to my two side monitors. I currently have a PLP setup with a Dell U3011 as my primary display, with a 2007FP on each side. My 580s in SLI run the main display, but I have to use a "PhysX" card to power the side monitors when SLI is enabled, or else they black out. The 9800GT is right now the loudest component of my system, and I would love to change it out with a quieter, yet better performing card. 650 Single Slot needs to happen.
Finally they released the GK106-chip. I just ordered a Gigabyte GTX660 Windforce OC for an astonishing low price of €209 EDIT: Sure prices might drop in the near future, but I really needed to get a replacement for my old GTX460.
Blimey. lspci | grep VGA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G92 [GeForce 9800 GT] (rev a2)
there will be a gtx 650ti to fill the gap. But at the moment I'm more interested in the HD7750. Roughly the same price and perf than the GTX650, but no power connector and available in both single slot and low profile. Perfect for a casual gaming rig.
Not at all. I love Baz. Was just pointing to an error in the article. I'm looking forward to reading the GTX650 review. Baz, can you pitch the GTX650 against both 7750 and 7770 with the latest Catalyst, when you manage to get one?
Thanks guys. I hereby dub this type of marketing (and make claim to the phrase) 'Competitive Price Fixing'.
the 680 gk104 was an impostor, mid range card with high end price tag, so every card in the 600 series seems crosley overpriced to me, i think nvidia where real tw#ts for doing so,amd had a banging card in the 4870 because they kept it @ 200 quid. nvidia could of done the same with the 680 and sold a bucket loads. nvidia are unreal and there pricing are way out, every think is like 100 quid more than last gen. 660 no thanks.
Wait, what? Nvidia are a-holes for charging more than £200 for their flagship card? Can you point me to the store that is selling AMD's top card for £200? The 4870 was THREE generations and FOUR years ago.
it is true, google gtx 680 is an impostor. when the 4870 came out nvidia had the gtx 280 £380 and a gtx 260 £270, the gtx 280 being nvidia's high end, ati 4870 was £200 and not only beat the gtx 260 but was tradeing with the gtx 280. nvidia brought out another gtx 260 with more cores [216] to be more competitive with 4870. am no being biased i bought the gtx 260 [192core] so i was sick. am just saying nvidia had an opportunity to do the same with the gtx 680 [gk104] it was meant to be a mid range chip, they had no compatition and chose to bang a high price on it instead of letting the gamers have a good deal, but hey that's business. the gtx 660 should be in a console.
You are absolutely right; this GPU has been in use in the 640 for a while. But as we've not looked at it before, it's still new to us!
just done a quick price check on scan 7850 is now £140-160 and slower than a 660 by a decent margin GTX660 is £180 7870 is £180-200 and is faster than a 660 marginally but consistent. basically if you can pick up a £180-190 7870 theres no reason to buy a 660 at all
