I need to get better at posting images, these look terrible resized but I don't want to post the full size image. Tips?
Resize then sharpen, just don't over-sharpen. Subtle is good. If you're using Photoshop or similar start with: Smart Sharpen: Radius 0.2px < this is important Amount 100% If you need more sharpness, switch from Gaussian Blur to Lens Blur. Or Unsharp Mask: 50% 1.0px 0 Levels
Interesting, I'll try that when I get home. I'm a bit confused though, you do that when posting images to a web forum? Or always? Just asking because the problem I was having is that the resized image that showed here looked terrible compared to the full size picture.
The forum's horizontal resizing ain't great. If you share from Flickr, Medium 640 (horizontal) will prevent this and people can still click on the image for the large version. As far as I can tell, Flickr applies sharpening when it generates smaller versions of your image.
Yarp I like this one! I believe Flickr's resizing method tries to avoid jaggies and general ugliness as the sizes get smaller, which probably makes them look crisper. I doubt it's actual global sharpening, because why would they bother?
For about five laps in a row the driver kept drifting round this same corner. Everyone around us cheered every time he came past. It certainly added some excitement to the 15th hour of the race when everyone was cold and tired! Hankook 24H Silverstone-121 by Jordan Stanhope Dean, on Flickr

My G/F and I had a go at making an adult movie last weekend and after waiting three hours for all the batteries to charge (during which we both almost fell asleep) we finally went at it. Two of the cameras worked, but the GoPro was set on the wrong mode and got nothing. Oh well, try again. Let me tell you, nothing takes the sexy out of a video like staring at it over and over for two hours in editing
