Okay, I know this is a fair way off but my GF has decided that because I ignored my birthday that she's making it up at Christmas.

She suggested getting me a 3d printer as she knows I'm into a few hobbies that I could use it in. Modeling buildings for Warhammer and Mordheim and also steampunking nerf guns etc. However I'm wondering if I would get more practical use out of a small desktop CNC machine.

So if you've used one or both could people give me what they consider the pros and cons of both and in their opinion which they think is better or more useful.

My only suggestion would be an engagement ring.

She already has an engagement ring and before anyone suggests getting her into gaming she already collects Skaven for Warhammer and Orks and Tyranids for 40k and Skaven for Mordheim. I did try and get her interested in Necromunda and Bloodbowl as well but she wasn't interested in either.
