EVGA might be onto something, a mini itx case that is actually smaller than a relatively compact mid tower: Watercooling version coming soon: Hadron Air
I read Hadron as something else at first. That looks a damn nice case!My only gripes being what looks to be a gloss black fiasca and no ATX PSU support. But the included SFX PSU looks a good one.
I saw this a little earlier. It looks extremely promising. However the price makes me choke; I wish there was an affordable but pretty mini-itx case at the moment. Lian-li's are lovely but pricey. The prodigy is affordable but extremely ugly.
The Prodigy is a real modder's case to be honest. There's an awful lot that can be done with it aesthetically.
Off topic, but if "The Large Hardon Collider" isn't already a successful gay porn title, then I'm going to make it.
It's from evga, you should have known it wouldn't be cheap. I think it's one of the nicest itx cases that has come out. I also have mixed feelings about the front. Not a huge fan of gloss either and something about the button placement really bugs me. Depending on how the plastic front attaches, it might be trivial to do something about it.
£170 [if true] isn't bad considering it includes a PSU, an 80+ gold rated one at that. the Silverstone ones with PSUs are similar prices iirc...
Oh yeah. The metal makes it more bearable. I don't like the logo though. I'm one of those people who dislike logos on their case. I have a Silverstone TJ08B-E; silverstone doesn't put a logo those.
It's not worth it by a long chalk. Firstly it's pretty much made to the same standard of the Prodigy. No Alu, just steel and plastic. That makes it worth around £60 to £70 if that. The PSU may be rated gold, but it's just a cheap basic affair that you could pick up for £50. So where does the extra £60 go? IMO EVGA are trying to cash in on their branding, rather than trying to supply a competitive product. It, like their other niche items will gain a small following but not enough of a following to make it overly popular.
I like it. Overpriced, yes, but nice and dinky and doing what mITX cases should be doing, being small! I don't see why case makers think an ITX build needs 4+ HDs, when in fact they need 2 SSD mounts or 1 SSD + 1 HD. The integrated PSU is also a nice thing, taking up way less space, but I'd like to see a range of capacities available and modular cabling.
Good luck fitting a regular ATX PSU in that case... that's where most of the extra £60 goes, the SFF PSU, some of it'll be paying for the EVGA badge, but most of it'll be PSU...
In my eyes 'true' mini ITX cases all take a SFF PSU. ITX motherboard + ITX Case and then a massive ATX PSU doesn't make sense. In 99% of cases its unnecessary anyway seeing as ITX boards only have one PCIe slot. If we look at a review of say, the 670, full system load is less than 350W. I run my 2500k/7850 setup on a 350W SFF. Check out the SG05 build log to see how small ITX cases should be.
FT03 mini? CM Elite 130? Depends what you define as 'small enough' without compromising what full size hardware you still want to use. That looks like a special SFF PSU so I can't imagine it would be cheap to add, unlike an ATX. But also.. 40mm fan?
