Having played bf4 alpha and soon to be playing the beta we will see how well the engine is written for more than 4 cpu cores. The alpha does not use more than 4 cpu cores thats for sure. As for compute work and stuff you should be looking at proffesional cards like the tesla range not gaming gpus. Thats why the Titan card has sold pretty well as its alot cheaper than the tesla range. Most retail 780s are faster in gaming than the Titan and alot of reviews have shown that even when overclocked the 780 is still quicker. Still waiting for pricing on the R290X.
Argh, no costs?! Seriously? Lack of Crossfire connectors are also very interesting - does that mean some internal solution, and if so, does that mean new motherboards are needed to support it? Builds would look a lot tidier without the physical bridges.
erm where di you see lack of crossfire? you did see the pictures we can see? with connections solder points on the back of the card right were crossfire is usually???
To be honest AMDs low level API is getting more hype than this Gpu now no real surprise as its a game changer.
After all of the bad press it received recently it wouldn't surprise me at all if they stopped using it. They discontinued the official 7990 within weeks of launching it. Edit. It could be something less sinister, like not needing a bridge? I know they were talking about onboard hardware like Nvidia cards have to stop the problems with runt and dropped frames?
7990 is discontinued? when? oh wait it isn't.... http://www.amd.com/uk/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7990/Pages/radeon-7990.aspx#1
It is from what I've heard. That's why they're turning up 'cheap'? all over the place. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-Radeon-HD-7990-Malta,23430.html
I was quite tempted by the Scan one @ £460 or so. Mind you that would have meant going with a smaller case, board etc. Epic power for £460 though.
The Scan one isn't a proper one, the branded ones are better. I think ocuk has a Gigabyte one still at £470. yup: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-121-GI
Well technically they're all the same. It just comes down to warranty really and yeah, Gigabyte are excellent
Lack of Crossfire connectors is being commented on all over the place. One press shot clearly shows no connectors: Also seen $599 being 'confirmed' on some sites, which in today's market is a £500 price tag.
