    Hi all.

Bizarre problem here. Asus Rampage III Gene; an X-Fi based sound card onboard (powered by VIA drivers). When optical audio SPDIF is hooked up to my receiver, I don't get sound. Devices are detected, up to date, and considered working by the OS. Sound test is visible, but the receiver (Onkyo in this case) doesn't get the signal.

I'm totally stumped. Anyone experience this?

Solution for anyone who may come across this same problem..

Turns out the Asus Rampage III Gene only outputs 2.1 sound via optical. In this case, by converting it to Coaxial, I lost the signal. The only way to get surround from the board is to use HDMI to your receiver (if your receiver has HDMI audio processing) or a dedicated sound card capable of DTS/Dolby formats.
