Interresting find, It seems to be quite simular to the 5770 in terms of preformance playing very close to the GTX 260.

If only I could read Chinese... ;)

Is it me, or is the 5830 the same size as the 5850 in the picture? Bit of a shame that, as a 5850 is roughly the same size as a 4870...

My question is, why is it eating more power at max than the 5850? Shouldn't it be about 10W less instead of 25W more?

Precisely what I thought, it's not far off a 5870 but its idle is lower than the 5850..odd.

Might just be a bad patch/sample/what have you. I'd wait for some more reviews before calling the 5830 powerhungry :)

They should've enabled at least 1200 SPs.

It's a bit underpowered for what it should be..Although with that said, I can't blame them too much.

It's quite disappointing, although they are using a bit older drivers, but still too much of a performance hit.

Just read a review on Hexus.net. Performance looks quite disappointing for £190. They said its more of a 5790 than a 5830. At £190 its just priced way to close to the 5850.

Just read over on Fudzilla.com, that all HD5830 cards are non-reference parts, i.e. there apparently won't be any reference version from ATi.

FWIW, I find the whole concept of a HD5830 sucky. Performance isn't what it should be (and I never expected it to be), yet pricewise it's close to what the HD5850 should have cost (back when you couldn't buy it even when selling your left kidney). The only thing the HD5830 will (probably) accomplish is to ensure higher prices for the HD5850.

It seems ATI have slipped a bit here. The cooler is about as large as a 5870 (so no putting it in a small case) and as mentioned, draws more power than a 5850 for less performance. Apparently it's quite overclockable though, probably due to the huge cooler.

If ATI priced this at say, £150-160 then it'd be reasonable.
