Ok I have just finished upgrading my PC and I have to say so far its quick. But I want to find out how quick. What are the best benching softwares and if poss free ones lol. I have set up the following Asus p867 PRO Intel 2500k 8gb Cas 9 1600 mhz Vengence RAM Gainward 1gb 460 golden sample 64gb corsair c300 SSD 300gb Sata with old OS and program files 640gb sata 6 Western Digital Caviar Black for my anime and music plus games are getting shifted over to it. a Coolermaster TX3 keeping the cpu cool. Antec 650w Truepower LG Blu-ray drive Asus Xonar DX sound card. All in an NZXT case (forgotten type but it looks sweet lol) a total of 3*120mm case fans, 2*96mm case fans and an Antec graphics fan. I welcome any suggestions. I went into BIOS (very nice by the way) and clicked the OC tuner button after 2 restarts it had oced my 3.3ghz to 4.3ghz!! with the RAM at 1648mhz and the Bclk to 103. It was running stable until in the OS i knocked the multiplier down to 40 and the bclk down to 100 at which point is was stable until I restarted. I have changed profiles to XMP and it runs at 4.2ghz with the Temp in OS running a cool 32c idle (compared to 45c with stock fan!). Look forward to replies, will upload photos of it over time.
Prime 95 OCCT MEM Test CPC Benchmark Suite Not all strictly benching software but needed if you want a stable OC.
have you stressed you PC at all to test your overclock or just booted into windows and thought awesome it works ?
Cinebench is pretty good, takes a cpu to 100% while it builds a picture. Also 3dmark vantage basic is now free to use, just like 3dmark 06. For stability I would run some thing like prime overnight, an overclocked cpu can be fine for like 3 hrs and then just start freaking out corrupting data and showing weird errors.
