BFBC2 CPC server revamped

    see 3rd post. in-game admins who are not me or Rogan can only use kick/kill/tban and communication commands.

    Rogan has full access to all commands. :) although looking at it, i think Nuke is classed as a kill command. worth a try when the server's not full.

    edit: hate it when getting ninja'd

    Fortunately, I'm too old and lazy to run about testing commands ingame. :)


    The problem with positional audio is you need to enable it on your client.


    Ideally the server should force it serverside, but I think it's at the client's discretion, which sort of ruins it a bit. The problem with two channels is people have to alt tab and switch manually, don't they?


    I think if it's working properly you should be able to hear the other side, if they are in range. Again, everything is set at the client's discretion. :(

    ah yes, positional sound must be set correctly on client side like so:

    and yes, alt-tab will be needed. not sure about other people, i find alt-tab out of any game to be painless and instant......... *hugs my 16GB RAM, and the 8GB spare sitting next to it*

    Alt-tab in games is usually painless, but I find that BFBC2 hates alt-tab. More so than usual full screen apps...

    Am interested to see how it goes with positional audio, but now I think about it.....does that not remove the 'general banter'...nes of VoIP?

    I think it is the same as vent if you want it to be. (you don't need to set positional audio etc.)

    Although, if someone does choose not to use positional, it does then prevent the ones that do want to from hearing them positionally.... hmmmmm conundrum.

    ^^ That's why not setting it on the server level worries me a little.

    It would be nice if disabling positional just removed the stereo aspect but retained the volume/distance aspect. I take it that's not the case.


    It's going to be interesting finding that out.

    Some ridiculously good players on the server tonight, too good actually, put me off a bit. But good to speak to you guys on Mumble, its very clear, I'm thinking of renting a server for me and my friends.

    Wyx, is there any way to can giv the mods the ability to do the #randteam command? Would be really useful for when the server goes a bit sour due to imbalance teams (much like last night).

    Is it possible to modify which commands mods can do?

    right, sorry about last night, SupCom 2 game went a bit long, and became boring due to my navy can't reach their spamming land factories :(


    i've given mods ability to move people. please don't mis-use it to move all CPC into 1 team, that was how it destroyed tourists on Aria community server.

    hopefully mods should now able to use #randteam command, i'll have a closer look tonight to makesure.

    did positional sound work? i found my to be enabled by default, so surely everyone's should have been enabled by default.

    Ok, cheers for that Wyx. Positional audio wasn't enabled as default on mine. And it is a little disorientating as only Rogan and I had it enabled, and he was on diff team to me....so I got his voive coming from one side, then the other, then back to the other...it was weird lol

    That would be great, the other team last night were just ridiculously good, I think the top 5 players had nearly 100 kills between them on one game, whereas our top 5 probably had 40!

    I have my positional sound enabled by default too, but its hard to tell if it works or not tbh.

    It was nice playing online with you guys. I shall be coming on Mumble tonight as well for a bit after my usual HC session, so see you there.
