Then it not only merely a flap, there is a mechanism underneath the "chimney" cover and so that top area is basically area to be avoided in modding. Also the port dashboard area has to be avoided in the modding. There are 2 areas on case top reducing the modding.

Do you have any plans for what you want to do with the case?

Have a quick look on fleabag for server cases if you don't mind a used case. These tend to be large and steel constructed with a solid panel top. Sure they aren't going to be the most attractive of cases but if you are doing a complete case mod then maybe worth it.

Lian Li PC-A10 is an aluminum metal not steel metal.

I need a firm foundation on the top and this should provide less limitations to the modding now or in the future.

I would need more tools though to cut into the metal thus prefer a case that has enough tool work cutting done to it.

I would avoid chimneys unless you want this to happen....

The only option I feel in order to get a firm foundation on the top of the case is probably get a rivet tool and a steel sheet to rivet on to a swiss cheese hole case top.

You can get generic steel cases without a perforated top, such as the arianet ones. I don't know what you're trying to do, but the steel in generic cases is so thin and the structure is so flimsy that an aluminium Lian Li is much stronger and more rigid.

The word "polymer" is mentioned for Cooler Master N400 case, this is probably a steel and polymer combo and am not sure if it going to provide a firm foundation.

Interested to find out about budget mobo and cpu?

"And this is why I prefer AMD chips, not only are the more efficient at performing multiple tasks at the same time but also are capable of using more cores within them, I always compare AMD and Intel by using a highway example, Intel is a two lane highway with a speed limit of 75mph and AMD is a six lane highway with a speed limit of 65mph, sure you get there faster going 75 but only when there is no other traffic, but when you are moving allot of stuff the 65mph road is much MUCH faster and delivers a much larger volume than the 75mph road. Though I didn't have much of a choice but to go with an intel chip n m latest computer, trust me I tried to find one that delivered acceptable performance with an AMD chip but nobody makes one. 1/13/14 12:41pm" sypoth

Start from scratch, bend some sheet metal into place then rivet/weld the motherboard tray to it.
