    damn Attila, you are amazing!

and for all you cnc vs hand craft commentators, please, make a separate post, right next to mixed metals in your loop threads... but don't do it here...

and damn, if you got Attila's epic skills, who needs a damned cnc?

Times like these when you realize you use the word "epic" way too lightly.

Where do you get your aluminum and, if you don't mind, what does it run you?

Metal from mcmaster is extraordinarily overpriced. Like 2.5x what it costs on ebay.

I used shapiro supply and salvage (on ebay) for my recent ALU order in the US and it was about $7/sqft @ 1/8" thick with the rough approriate cuts made.

Your work, your way, wonderful Attila. I enjoy the process as much as the final product. So I await the next step patiently.

    Sixfoot,

Attila lives in Australia, and sources his aluminium locally, or from inside Aust.

Yeah I just wish I looked on ebay when I was buying the original order for my current build, would have save heaps on sheet alu, oh well it's near complete now :) but I know for future reference :thumb:.

This thread is quite inspiring for me, since I'm getting more and more into alu due to GNU's build and this.. and to see you work it by hand gives me some hope since I don't got access to heavy machinery and such :)

Been watching this for a bit now but only recently registered - Your work continues to amaze me - this is ungodly good handcrafted aluminium work :)
Thanks for helping inspire me to start my own aluminium project :D Keep up the good work!

Thank you. :) I think you are right. Holding a part in your hand that began it's life in your head is very pleasurable.

    Thanks mate. :thumb:

    Thanks brinkz. :thumb:

Thanks. :thumb: I cant really move the central plate 'back' any further because there are parts and plumbing that need to go there. I've wanted to have this orientation for the graphics card for a long time, so it's just got to be that way. At least once. :hehe:

Thanks mate. :thumb: I am a bit confused about all the fuss to be honest. CX1 didn't appear on over forty web sites because it was hand made. People just like it for what it is. ;)

Thank you. :) I'm glad you are enjoying the read.

    :hehe:

    Thanks mate. :)

    Thanks Robby. :)

I buy my alu from a small place nearby. It took me a long time to find them but they cut to any size I want, their prices are good and they let me rummage through the offcut bin at my leisure.
I have lots of alu sitting against the wall from previous builds (I always get more than I need) so all I've had to buy for this are the really thick stuff for the blocks (this was dirt cheap, $20) and a sheet of 8 mm x 600 mm x 1200 mm, this cost $160 but it's double what I need. Some left over for next time. ;)

    Thanks Craig. :thumb:

    Thanks, I think. :hehe:
Thanks, and I hope this will give you that extra 'nudge' to get started. :)

    Thanks a lot Ron. :thumb:

Thanks mate. :thumb: I follow every update of your latest as well.

Thanks, and welcome to bit-tech.

    Thanks mate. :thumb:

Thanks mate, I keep heading over to OCAU for some progress on Kyubu, but I guess you are still too busy. :thumb:

Just a little curious about your build plans, are you going to simply cut a slot for the motherboard I/O? Or are you going to cut a hole to fit the I/O faceplate?

Nah, I/O plates are so 1990's. But seriously, this will be completely covered, including the back, and anything else here will interfere with the passage of air from front to back. This gives an idea of why the chassis is so sturdy as the shell will open up in every direction and contribute zero to the structural integrity of the case. ;)

Well, make sure you got positive pressure then, or it'll be dust madness.
