Peripherals Debating a Blu Ray writer...

    Please consider that every 50GB Blu-Ray disc will cost 11-15% of the value of that entire writer.

    The hardware isn't expensive. The media is. A 10 disc / 50GB spindle is 68 GBP. That's for 500GB of storage. You would be better off with a small 2.5" portable HDD. And keep in mind, everyone will have a USB port for you to plug into. But despite their falling prices, Blu-Ray readers (not writers) are still quite uncommon.

    I have the Pioneer. Good drive. Whether you actually need one? Well, if you want to play or burn Blu-Rays, then yeah.

    Yeah I was maybe thinking movies *ahem* but then, I don't really watch a movie twice.. and at the cost of discs you're halfway towards buying a second hand movie.
