Steam servers are down due to a heavy load being experienced. With Gabe's recent comments regarding the attack on them last year, is it possible they are being attacked again? They haven't had any game releases or special weekends as far as I am aware that would cause such a load.
Or someone at Valve HQ sat on the server restart button. Wouldn't surprise me if it's a technical error that crashed half their servers.
670,000 users and falling. The stats page is rather hilarious from my point of view. Edit; just hit sub 26K users. God damn. Their servers have **** themselves!
Their uninterruptible power supply was... interrupted: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784745&page=26
Servers have started to come back, but the Steam Community is still down, so I still can't get at the Workshop (Dammit!) So the massive dropouts must've been as their UPS systems ran out of juice. I lol'd.
I just went to purchase a game and its asking for my payment details........ Which it doesnt do normally as they are saved already. Should i be concerned? or just re-enter them?
There were large parts of NA internet down: http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm The longer you wait the less red and more green
Give it about an hour. It should all be back up by then. When the steam-login system falls over; it logs you out then asks for details.
Intermittent for me. I think the servers are still rebooting. That'll take a while. Servers don't like rebooting.
