just made up the following sentence with my vocab and said it with hammed up French accent sounding like a French Casanova from a film.

je voudrais passer la soiree avec vois mademoiselle

tip of the day is do just language and bath in it only when you do it for hour or two hours, nothing else on the mind and set your internal work space into it and your brain starts to warm up about the topic.

I guess its like most things, good to do just that concentrate and repeat and play with the topic.

Yadda, you deserve some positive re-enforcement to push you into next week and beyond.

Edit: You are ahead of me (doing better than me).

    Lol, cheers RB.

It's not a race though chap, the trick is to just keep plodding through. :thumb:

And besides, upon checking, I'm still doing stuff wrong so to correct the above (to not sound all "thankyou please)"...

Yo no bebo cerveza, yo bebo juga de mango.

    :)

I'm up to a 23 day streak now. Things are still going well and what I really like about the Duolongo software is that it adjusts how quickly your previously completed modules need to be "topped up" dependant on your performance when completing them.

For example, if you cruise through a module without getting anything wrong, that module's bar will remain "full" for a long time. Get a few wrong while making your way through it though and that module's bar will deplete sooner. It works really well because you tend to top-up your weaker completed modules before moving on to new ones.

I've been using it for maybe two weeks.

I disagree entirely with its percentage claims, but maybe that's because I'm "in the deep end" of learning a language that is someone I live with's mother tongue.

It also seems to have weird correct/incorrect acceptance. Sometimes I'll make a typo, and it'll say "almost correct", other times flat out wrong - But there doesn't appear to be any substantial difference. ah well.

I'd never heard of duolingo until I saw this thread but signed up last night! Time to see how much high school French I remember...

Always been tempted to learn a second language but got put off by prices of things like rosetta stone!

It's not perfect but it's very good. It's only 10-15 minutes each day and short of spending the time with a native speaker, I don't know of a better way to learn. Good luck.
