Alright, here's the deal. I just recently got cable internet and now for some reason my computers just cant manage to see one another...so therefore, no backups, no remote printing, no nothing...Ill give you an idea of the layout.
I have three computers all in different rooms, that attach to a switch and then the cable modem's ethernet cable attaches to the uplink port on the switch...
Before I had ricochet internet which was on my main desktop, richochet is a wireless internet that uses a usb modem.
I compared the Ip addresses, the subnet masks and the default gateways to eachother and they were all different, and now if try to change them to the same thing, the internet doesnt work....so what can i do to fix this problem, because i would really like to be able to back up my important docs and print and such items as that...Thanks in advance...

I thought that cable modems needed a specific cable router, due to mac spoofing and the like.

I think your flaw is having a switch, and no router... You need a router to seperate the Internet from the LAN, and dish out IP's (and a whole lot of other things). A switch just won't cut it...

    EDIT: Damn you Doug ;)

Unless your Modem has a built in router like mine does.

And it probably has a switch integrated too? That might be the reason they call it a Modem/router/switch combo ;)
