I would love to get a landraider, shame they are €50. Though, the kit nowadays seems to include all the bits for the Redeemer version too, so that's nifty
Yeah thats them. The very concept is hilarious. Spoiler In the sequel to gathering of might the game was won when the Grand Theologean was taken out with a perfect 48 inch guess from a Doomdiver. S10, D6 wounds? Goodnight Vienna!
Also just found another great article. "Arena of Death". 16 special characters from Warhammer fantasy in a simple knock-out tournament. Only problem was that the only thing which wasn't actually a special character won lol 3 guesses what it was.
I know this is heresy but I'm very tempted to buy myself some warmachine models, just as the whole steam punk think looks fantastic
Landraiders = As an excuse to show off, they're fantastic, the model lends itself to being a show piece even more than a unit in the actual game, its just so frikkin' big! This and this is what I got up to with mine... Gribbly.
I remember the Leman Russ Battletank (or at least a variant of it) had the biggest blast template in the box, something stupid like 6" radius. Goodbye squad of Gretchin! Also, Commissar Yarik with his weird laser eye and crab-like battleclaw. There was something cool about Imperial Guard, they were the real army of humanity even if they did mostly end up just being fleshy meat-shields. I also remember getting £30 as a birthday present when I was younger - went straight out and bought 2 Carnifi (plural of Carnifex?). Not the modern looking models mind you, the big heavy lead ones with 4 clawy arms sticking out and a big screamy looking face. Needless to say, I beat my brother in quite a few battles with them.
Know his works, bloody good writter! --- Well, last night I scoured gifts for geeks and discovered can buy a Land Raider and a squad of ten termininators for around £65, thats without all the paints and the such. Payday next thursday... might start my own little battle group!
Throbbi - Aye, i remember that one too. Wasn't it the Bloodthirster as per usual. The thing just beats down on people. In regard to greater Daemons, I actually managed to kill a keeper of secrets with Necrons Scarabs in a tourny. Only tournament I ever played, but I killed it with scarabs. Bless their little metallic hides EDO - The landraider really is an impressive piece of kit I will admit and the new models are gorgeous. I am a fan though of my Necron Monolith. Nothing quite says death like a particle whip Playing against orks one time, player tried to ram the monolith with a wartrukk, fell 2" short, he guessed my range for me by doing so. Moved the 'lith 6", placed the Ordanance blast.... 2 mobs of Boyz gone in a single shot. Bongo - you wouldn't be looking to offload one of those Carnifex, would you? I've been wanting to get my hands on a Screamer Killer for years...
Uhh... A thing of beauty. Always had a hard time getting them close to the enemy but the bioplasma did a good job.
Indeed, usually when people saw them, they were the priority target. Didn't they have 10 wounds? A friend of mine had 2 of them, called Crash and Bash. Basically they were the tyranid version of a WWF tag-team I had thought about doing the same with 2 Furioso Dreadnoughts
haha, a friend has two Dreadnoughts like that called "Bill" and "Ted" one had an assault cannon and one had a las-cannon. I've watched him win battles against whole Eldar forces with them. Although I'd still love 6 Dreadnoughts and 40 Terminators all with assualt and las cannons on the table... then life becomes hilarious
Hilarious? No it doesn't. It becomes quick. I'd clear that lot off the table before Turn 3 Drop pod army with Dreadnought, Sternguard, Vulkan supported by deep-striking long-range Land Speeders and infiltrating terminators. First turn charge with a 10-man squad of TH+SS Terminators anyone?
That's pain and a half. I would however like to see how well Termies would fare against Pariahs Slightly broken, yes. However when you see an ork mega-amoured nob squad and a warboss get cut down by 4 of them, it's hilarious.
I wouldn't put the Termies against the Pariahs. I'd drop a Sternguard squad next to them and use the specialist ammo. Or perhaps the close-combat dreadnought. Dead pariahs. Oh, did I mention each Sternguard carries a combi-bolter.
I know diddly about the newer marine units. Sternguard, Vanguard, any of those are all new to me. Glad to hear Combi weapons are still kicking about. Normally when it comes to hard-ass melee units, I use my wraith' or my Necron Lord. Often enough the Pariahs would be a bodyguard for the Lord, but he always lasts longer anyway. Resurrection Orb annoys so many people.
So many things not in 40k anymore that i used to love. Shok Attack Gun, Thudd Gun, Squats, old shape Orc dreadnought (dustbin with arms and legs) and all the Phoenix Lords, damn they were cool models. In close combat (back in the day at least) it was a quad of Death Company, Eversor Assassin, brood of Genestealers or Howling Banshee's for me. Had a four way battle with all these involved, pretty much everything died but it was fun none the less
Thud guns are still in it, or rather they're back. You can now get one on the front of a Land Raider! Maugan Ra was always my favourite Phoenix Lord. I think I might strip the paint off the model I have currently and re-paint him.
