Hehe. 1,3kg. Very heavy indeed. My Q9650 idle at 32°C (140mm-fan @450rpm, 120mm-Noctua @800rpm) and load is around 48°C. Made for silence, faster fans would decrease temps. Edit: The name of the cooler is, Scythe Orochi ( Orochi, translated as the Eight-Forked Serpent)
I know, its a silly cooler... But it looks cool =) Got it for 1/3 of its original price too... Here are some pics I took when I had it on my previous mATX-board. Backplate and screws, really easy to mount.
i bet when you unpacked that cooler, its was a WTF and laughter moment! love it! its begging for passive cooling!
Sure did, even more so when it was mounted. If it would have been 2-3 mm wider/taller/deeper it wouldn't even have fitted inside the case...
I've got to say, its defiantly nice to look at, you're first image of it installed is very pleasing on the eye. Can't help but think that the rear 120mm fan is now defunct. The cooler would do very well in a case with a large fan in the room, like a Antec 900 or similar fugly cases. I do like the SOLO case, its a nice professional clean looking case.
Thanks. I like the Solo too, great size, and very well built. The rear 120mm fan is far from defunc, I would say it really works great now, drawing warm air away directly from the copper pipes before they enter the heatsink again.
Wouldnt it have been smarter to turn it 90 degress, and make a duct from the rear fan? I do know it isnt possible, BUT if it was!
Yeah you're right, but seeing as the psu fan is almost touching the heatsink, I think the heatsink fan is superfluous.
