I not I have an icon in my notification area inviting me to 'Get Windows 10' by this does it mean that I have to install it right away or can I burn it to DVD or some other means and keep it for some other time? I actually don't think I really want Windows 10 as it seems just as bad as 8 But I might stick it on one of my PC's. Can I revert to 7 if I decide I don't want 10? Can I remove the icon on Get Windows 10' icon on the PC's I will not be upgrading?
Definitely legit, being nagged today too. This fella from guardian says downgrade is possible. Judging from the article he reasons you are issued a new license key for Windows 10, therefore your old license is still valid, however I imagine to downgrade back you would need to perform a fresh install using your old media and key.
Im more than happy to try it and upgrade my few windows 7 keys but only if I can downgrade them again. Windows 7 is still the bees knees for me, wouldnt want to cut ties completely.
You can stop the nagging by removing the update that does it (KB3035583) I'm not convinced why we need to reserve our copy mind. Surely it's just going to turn up as an update on Windows update.....
It is to have it on day 1 release. So that not everyone in the world jumps on Microsoft servers, overload them, and people have to wait 1-2 weeks before they can actually get it.
That's the thing though, is it actually going to pre-load the files needed for the upgrade before the official release date so the Microsoft servers don't get hammered on the 29th, or is it just a bit of PR and Microsoft are going to have 10 PCs () all downloading the upgrade on the 29th.
I think the idea is that it'll pre-load - at least that's how I interpreted it but reading the wording again, maybe I'm wrong. The wording says The 'install it right away' makes me think it won't be downloaded until the 29th itself
My Windows 8.1 computer has been downloading huge chunks of upgrades lately, the last patch was ~500mb Win10 is the reason?
Windows 10 is 2-3GB. Microsoft did release a mass set of security updates for Windows 7 and 8 recently. It must be those.
