Honestly I can't tell if I hate it because I think it looks crap or I hate it because I have an innate dislike for anything related to or even loosely linked to Metallica. The.. Verging on swastika aesthetic doesn't help, though.
Loving these in-wall speakons... Never been a fan of how much binding posts stick out like a sore thumb. I have some 90deg connectors for these too, shame they all insist on the blue ring on the plug.
Do love speakons for easy of installation and use. Not home audio but working on a new amp rack for in the car. it will have a cover just faffing with cabling currently. The metal front was a brushed stainless steel splashback off cut. Yeah its now mirror finish. Cables chafing is not a concern as they are pinned to the board below I did deburr the holes the dont cut you when you run you finger round them an once its in I'll run some silicone to lock the cables in place in the bottom of the holes. Oh an the screws are now in fully, left them out partially to solder the RCAs up meant I could remove them more easily
Been trying to figure out what to do about a TV mount as I've been thinking of moving up a weight class or two from the 75". I have whatever the cheapest cantilever mount that claimed to hold 50kg was from <generic wall-mount shop> at the moment, but it does not inspire confidence at even half extension, let alone full. Also has an unnecessary tilt function that needs to be tightened within an inch of its life to keep the TV upright (and even then moving the TV in/out will tilt it) that needs to go. On the recommendation of an AV dealer/installer I've just picked up the Future PS80 uber-bracket I'm told that a TV of effectively any size/weight can be mounted and moved in and out with barely a fingertip's poke, which will be lovely. MSRP is "make sure you're sitting down" territory, but nabbed one off ebay for a fraction of it.
Yeah... BNIB "just opened for pictures" supposedly. It was listed for collection only, and we were going to meet halfway before it was agreed that just me getting UPS to pick it up was best. I'd like to think that if he was thinking he would be meeting someone in person, making sure the listing was correct was a priority. It's a nice theory anyway. Good grief that got dark quick.
It's just got an impressive weight capacity! My TV is mounted like a big picture, there are two aluminium discs mounted on the wall and a steel cable strong over the TV VESA mounting holes, makes it exceptionally flat and effortless to get level. Quite an uncommon thing as most people mount their TVs way too high and need to tilt it down to compensate.
I've used those before - really handy things and easy to just eyeball it and worry about making the TV level later. One of the TVs on the shortlist is 89kg for screen only though. Probably best not to try the puck mounts. And pull-out brackets on large TVs is IMO a necessity, makes cabling a nightmare otherwise. And in my particular scenario, I have a large inset behind the TV, so it lets me push it right back so it's totally flush with the wall.
@Mister_Tad you need this you hopeless cheapskate: https://www.whathifi.com/news/watch...tion-will-make-you-question-your-life-choices
I did tell myself when I bought the last telly that the next telly would me a MicroLED. I may have misjudged either how much MicroLED would come down in price, or how much I would have to spend on a telly. Or probably both.
Tad: Buys mount that could likely hold a small car Me: Buys a 55" TV that has a total weight in the region of a pair car wheels. I did look up the weight limit of the mount, so. Jokes. Just for clarity.
Hey everyone, would it benefit me buying a Nvidia shield pro over say the native apps on my c2? I do use plex a lot and my MacBook Pro m1 as the server.
