I got quoted £51,000 once on a BMW 523i SE (W reg) when i was 18.... though i'm sure that has to be a mistake, since it was twice what the car was worth. It wasn't the lowest quote I got, but I thought it funny

The reason for going for the A6 is that we already have it....its not going to be practical to change to a 1.9 version!

I'm a provisional driver (3rd driver) in our X-reg Laguna 2.0 petrol and I think it was about £200 to insure me for 3 months on it (til September when I go back to Uni).

As for driving a bigger car, I personally have no issue with it (I drove around for about a year previously in a fiesta and an escort which are both quite a bit smaller), then came back from Uni, got in the Laguna and was fine. If anything it's better because it's such a smooth ride.

The acceleration catches you out a bit at first though (as it's a two litre petrol) but it kicks ass once you get used to it :D. A 2.5 should be very nice to drive!

    Cool.
IM going to go month by month from septemberish, when i should have some time.

Less than £100 a month. So i could either have 5 hrs lessons in a 206 or almost unlimited in the a6 for the same price :)

Whoops, I made a mistake on my last post.

It was £60 for a 3 month insure on the Laguna. I just passed my test, and the payments haven't gone up either which is sweet. Norwich Union if you're interested. Can't stand their adverts but gotta love their prices!

lol dreaming, the only good thing about getting older is that insurance is cheaper the rest sucks :sigh: The fact that your 17 means you will rag a car (apparently) they wouldnt bother and the specialist insrurance companies would charge a fortune.

It wownt be when he crashes it :(

IF your dad owns a company then you could maybe stand a chance of being put on that but thats dubious... Im 23, 0-ncb (never had my own policy before), 2.0l 3dr focus = £600 and thats a good price (from elephant.co.uk)...good luck :)

I found out the other day that I'm OK to drive my dad's car :D
Because it's a company car, anybody that has a full license and is approved by a member of the company can drive any of the cars on lease :hip:

Doesn't have the power of my mum's Laguna (Mondeo Ghia, 2.0 diesel) but it's got a bloody fantastic gearbox and clutch.
Took one of their Lagunas out too (the new model) for a test, although it's a lot smoother and holds the road better, the engine is pants, doesn't go anywhere fast but makes a lot of noise trying to pretend!
