I've not been too active on the boards for the last couple weeks. Between having my lower wisdom teeth out last week and an extended weekend holiday in the mountains, I've been busy! No pictures of the dental work, but here's some random shots from Minis in the Mountains here in Colorado. Wish I could take credit for all of them, but only some. A few of us met in the foothills to caravan up to Copper Mountain Resort, where the meet was held. All told it was a very fun event, even though the weather was a bit rainy. Approximately 200 Minis attended with lots of very nice Mini enthusiasts from across the US.

US Highway 6 from Denver, a nice twisty road (we took this up from Denver partway, until meeting up with Interstate 70

Very nice, looks like fun! Did you notice any power loss when you went up that high?

Shame there aren't more of the classic mini though. :(

Did you have a good time?

Why the bra? Did I miss something that requires people to add clothes to cars?

Any of you rag it around the twisty roads or were you not used to gentle twists?? :p :D:D

    To answer questions above:

Krikkit: Yes, seeing as I have the base Cooper and not the S, it was definitely noticeable on some of the steeper inclines. Overall it is tuned to the Colorado altitude, so not a problem otherwise. I also installed a more open grill than the stock version and an aftermarket K&N air filter to help it along just a pinch. A shame about few classic Minis, although there was a third (an even older red model) that attended for a day. Classic Minis just aren't as common in the US.

Badders: Yes, it was a great time!

Bindi: Sport bra is the low cost solution instead of a clear bra. Necessary because cars can really get chipped up badly, especially highway and mountain driving. I don't have it on for ordinary city driving. Rag it around twisty roads? Not sure what you mean. And gentle twists? hahahaha Have you ever been to Colorado? Here's a couple photos of one of the roads we were on. And... umm... I never go the "recommended" speed on turns. ;P

    modgodtanvir: It was indeed!

freedom810: It may be German engineered, but they're still manufactured in Oxford!

I like it, as has been said shame that there weren't more classic minis, but there is not many over there and they just dont fit into may americans lifestyles, the new ones are definately right for them. But i really love the fact the american new mini scene is very similar to the english classic mini scene, all meet up for a drive a chat and some fun, enjoy the scenery and the main reason, the cars.

One thing, i dont get 'bras on cars', they dont look very nice on many cars in my opinion, what exactly is its use? To protect the paint from bug splatter? Is a car wash just as easy?

    Stone Chips.
Car wash doesn't do so well on those.

If I were younger, had a private garage and my health was better, I'd love a classic Mini. I owned a 1969 AH Sprite for a couple years and loved that car. It was great in the mountains with the top down. Had to get rid of it before I had my daughter as it just wasn't practical, <cries> Seeing as this Mini is my only vehicle, I need something both comfortable and reliable. An old Mini or another Sprite would be fantastic for a second car. Maybe when I win the lotto. ;P

Yep - German (BMW) engineering but manufactured in Oxford, GB still.

Good to know some Americans know how to drive at least :p :D

Please say you have a Cooper S and not a "One" *shudder*

Those look like fantastic roads to drive, yet still very wide - where's the sense of danger? ;)

I remember seeing a classic cooper not long after the new ones were released that had a big sticker on the back that said "Hitler hasn't invaded my engine bay!" made me chuckle

Maybe because road safety standards are stricter for that state, and that the roads may be used for freight?
