I'm trying to install a printer for someone after a reformat. It's an Epson Stylus C20UX and the OS is win 98.
During the setup it tries to detect the connection to the printer and fails miserably. I've checked the connection (USB) and tried it in different ports, but with no luck. It worked before the format so I don't know what's going on.

USB is working as the other device (scanner) is detected.

If you had the printer plugged in during the Windows installation it seems to mess things up a bit. I got round it once by uninstalling the USB drivers, and then installing them again. (In device manager click uninstall on the USB devices bit) It picked up all the new devices then properly. Just remember to keep the printer unplugged until it asks you to plug it in.
