cheers tweak - am now, but didn't get enough time to upload photos this weekend sadly.

    thanks mrwizard!

Thanks for your support, but it's already been nominted for motm in Jan.

Sorry for lameness in getting photos up. Lots of progress next update - LED strip soldered up, mould off, leak-testing done, plumbing in, components in and temperature testing briefly done. Sadly I only had a vga monitor and couldn't find a vga-to-dvi converter plug so could only see idle temps from the LED display on the motherboard (evga p55 Cheesecake). Was in a real rush to get temp testing done before going back earlier this evening, but initial results seem good. :)

    update 20th june

    Update time!

Apologies for sidewaysness of some of the pics. The end-boxes were sealed by making a mold from acrylic strips. Sadly I left the protective covering on and as the polyester resin hardened it pulled the covering away. As a result there are grooves in the casting, though I'll be able to sand down to flat and smooth and still keep the resin sitting flush with the edge of the aluminum frame I think.

Here are the domed allen-head bolts attaching the aluminium front and back frames to the copper back wall - 9 bolts holding each

Here's the slit for the slot-loading slimline laptop drive. The push-to-make switch will be rewired to a vandal switch on the front.

Was idling at 24-26C yesterday morning. Went up to around 34-35 later in the day (very hot day with room facing the sun and a big fishtank - ambient 30c+ - was sweating when sat still!).

Stress testing levelled out at 62C in OCCT and 70-72C in Intel Burn Test on maximum stress.

I had forgotten about this epic mod. I must say it is looking awesome, excellent work and great temps for a passive rig.

And that's with no fans at all? Wow! imagine what would happen if you put some fans in there.

Should have stated - those temps are with the i750 at 4GHz with the ddc 9watt pump, radiator case, heatkiller 3.0 cpu block and swiftech mcw60 in the loop but not on the gfx card. So the flowrate is what it'll be connected up, but temps will be a bit worse with the gpu adding heat as well. Temps will also be worse with the cpu overclocked closer to its max as it needs more voltage to get near to 4.3-4.4. Vcore is around 1.3v for 4GHz and 1.45ish for 4.3 iirc.

Nothing in actual use gets the cpu as hot as IBT in my experience, so if I can get temps of under 75 gaming with the gpu in and a bigger overclock I'll be fairly happy.

I'll still probably make a 9x12cm fan add-on to attach to the bottom and blow up through the fins, but need to decide what fans to use - sanyo denki 9s1212l401 would be ideal, but they're around 20quid each & p&p. Alternatively there's scythe gentle typhoon 1450rpm fans or cheap and cheerful yate loons...

You could always rig up your own fan controller or temp sensor controller to keep which ever fans you choose nice and quiet.
