Project HYPERCUBE² Day 10 24/07/2004 DAY 10 This update is actually from 2 days, but yesterday I spend all day sanding down some metal profiles. It was a very timeconsuming and boring job.... Here you can see what my girlfriend and I where doing yesterday. Yes I got a new modder in ta house ;-).... I was looking a solution for the baseplate of the core inside the cube. With all the HD's, DVDrom and PSU on it, it tended to bend down a little (2-3 mm), and I was afraid that the plexi would break. So thats why I need these profiles to reinforce the plexi. 1. Measuring the profile and cutting it in the correct lengths 2. Sanding down the profile to remove the black coat 3. Still sanding (special tnx to My girlfriend who spend hours on that chair...) 4. Even with all the profiles next to each other it wouldnt speed up. That damned metal, its consuming all my sanding paper... The result is pretty pleasing, just one coat of polish and that'll have to do. Here's my glue setup for the profiles. I'm glueing them on with rapid drying ultra strong glue. Allready saturday... time to start something else. I'm gonna make one of the side panels, The shape of the fan is already cutout in the transparent plexi, it has been testfitted in the frame and now, a mirror film has to be glued on and cut out. 1. Cleaning the plexi, making sure it has no fingerprints or dust on it 2. Cutting out the mirror film 3. Peeling off the film 4. Sticking the film on the plexi. Rubbing the film firmly down, We dont want any bubbles ;-) 1. Almost done with the rubbing, and no bubbles 2. backside 3. Removing the edges 4. Removing the inside (fan hole) 1. Cutout of the printout next to the plexi with the film 2. The printout fixed to the plexi 3. Starting the cutout 4. The film comes of nicely 5. Finished cutout 6. Printout removed The finished plexiplate with the testfan in place. (frontside) Backside of the finished plexiplate, notice the film has a mirror finish on both sides Two finished panels in the frame. If you look at the DESIGN you will see that there will be another layer of plexi over these panels. Thats it for today, till next time
I like this MOD. You are an artist, and I remain mouth open in front of accomplished work. Good continuation
Your amount of detail and craftsman ship is all the way up with Gnome! This is one of the coolest cube cases I've seen. Can't wait to see the finished project!
I'm impressed! (i must be cause this is my third "wow great" post in this thread- it gets better and better) , i think it will deffo look a lot better once you get the extra plexi installed.
Really cool mod, looks nice. Where did you get your inspiration from??? That sucky movie - Hypercube: Cube 2???
Where the heck do you think he got his inspiration from? Honestly... A) read the thread title - it's called "hypercube" B) it looks exactly like the front cover of said moving collection of photographs. If you're not being sarcastic, then omg you must be stupid. If you are being sarcastic, it's the lowest form of wit.
