    what procedure do you use for acrylic bending? Just straight foward clap > heat > bend ?
    Your bends are very clean, keep it up !

    Hey huren!

    All I do when bending the acrylic is that I mark the place where I clamp it (as said earlier, 10mm less than where you want the bend to be), then clamp it in place well.

    After that I heat it with a heatgun so long that it starts to bend down on its own (this takes quite a while). Then I just keep the bent part at the angle needed and blow along the bend to cool it down. That's about it, I don't have any special tricks for it, just go slowly and maybe bend a few scrap pieces first to see how the material acts. After that it's just your imagination what's slowing you down :D

    This is seriously sweet as I was reading the update I was thinking that could use a mirror coat on the bottom but thats what you planned so I think get some mirror acrylic and figure out how to bond it to the orange for a seemless mirror orange look. But sweet. I want to see some components in there 2.

    Is that UV-red or UV-orange plexi? Coolputer sells only UV-red, so I guess it's it?

    Love your work man, is this your first mod?
    You've got a good thing going on there, keep it up ;)
    Nice colorscheme too...
    Love the frontpanel, how thick is that plexi you've used there? :D

    The little details like the orange sleeving and even plugs on fan connectors and molexes and the like really show the effort you're putting in, not to mention the acrylic pieces you're making Darkened. Keep it up :rock:

    Watch out for that mirror acrylic if you're using it - a mate tried to bend some for a project in high school and the silvery coating flaked and stripped off at the bend. Not good at all :duh:

    On another angle, how are you going to approach lighting in this case? Are you just going to leave it to the fans? or have you got something interesting planned ?

    Ya thats to be expect since the plexi stretches but the silver coating doesn't. Of you had a wat of chrome plating you could just get a chromed piece of metal under it.

    Screws and nuts...

    Hey all, sorry about the lack of updates and answering questions. I've had some problem with my ISP and was unable to get an Ip-address for a few days.

    Ok, lot's of questions, that's cool. Let's answer some.

    @hydro_electric_655

    I don't think that I'll go with another plexi piece under the divider plate, maybe some mirror window tint or just mirror vinyl might be in place though. Chrome plating the original divider plate is out of the question anyways cause I want to cover those holes somehow. Thanks for the ideas though :thumb:

    @accro

    The acrylic I'm using isn't Ac Ryans stuff, It should be somewhere in the thread, but the piece is a leftover one my dad has used for some project when he was doing windowdressing and such things for Orion.

    @yahooadam

    Check back a few posts, I explained how I do the bending back there :D

    @chase

    Not exactly my first mod, first one documented and logged though. The acrylic I'm using is 3mm thick.

    @tdkwarrior

    Thanks for the warning on using mirror acrylic, I'll keep that in mind. For the lighting, I really havn't decided on that yet, it's going to be uv, but how, that I don't know yet.

    And to everybody else following the project, I'm really grateful for your input and support. Keep the comments coming, It really makes my day when I get new input on this project.

    A small update also...

    [IMG]

    I got some M4 hexhead screws to use for attaching the plexi parts and such.

    [IMG]

    These go with the M4 screws, couldn't find black ones though, I'll just have to polish those nuts to make them more attractive.

    [IMG]

    Also got a few M3 hexhead screws. These are going to be used for attaching the DVD-drive and also the motherboard if the standoffs are M3, havn't checked that yet.

    That's almost if for now. I did make a decision on using only one harddrive on this thing, 320Gb Western Digital Re2 with 16Mb cache. Should be fast enough :D This gives me a chance to use a Plextor Px-760SA DVD burner which is also serial ata so I can ditch those pesky IDE cables once and for all.

    I'm going to be working for couple of days now, so don't know how much I can get done, but as soon as I do, I'll be updating.

    Ya I was looking online and find some acrylic sheet adhesive tints. THey have mirror tinits that should work if the adhesive is on the right side.

    Hey hydro, I believe that the kind of window tint used on car windows should work for this thing pretty well. They are attached to the "inside" of the window and if i can find a mirror tint somewhere that's probably the kind I'm going to use (smoke tint is easy to find). Thanks for the info, much appreciated as always :D

    Thanks modsquad, your Black Narcissus was actually the inspiration for me to get a V1000 case. Hopefully you'll enjoy the rest of my project as well :D
