Chips on BOTH sides? Jeepers. Sony don't make things easy for us modders do they :-\ Still, I shall see what I can do with regards to data sheets Sounds like windows 7 refused to believe your hardware even existed - probably why it thought everything was ok. This is why I'm gonna use XP on all current and future builds for as long as I can possibly get away with! You might be able to get an XP theme or some such thing to give XP a zesty hint of windows 7. Eye candy AND performance that way ;-)
It's more than just coincidence, it's actually deliberate! Sony were the publishers for the Spiderman movies and as such actually "own" the font and when the PS3 was released, Spiderman on Blu-Ray was one of the "Launch discs" for the format (along with Casino Royale), so the PS3 was styled to tie in with that. The font was also the driving force for the shape of the console. This comes from an interview with the designer. I have no links because I can't remember where I read it! Anyway, back on topic, PC3 is a great evolution of design from the PC-in-a-PS2 that are floating around! Hope it all works out well for you in the end!
Oooh! Well you learn something new every day I thought sony might have something to do with the new spiderman film, either a sponsorship or some marketing deal. Interesting
Thanks for that little tidbit of information! One learns something every day I'm nearly done with the build. Trying to source a HDD cover and fabricate a full-length backplate so I can wrap up completely. Software issues are all resolved (Power DVD and XBMC on XP cheesecake ).
Yes. My motherboard died and Zotac India is staffed by hellspawn. That aside, I'm working on a backplate to seal this thing up and call it done. If only the mobo gets RMA'ed *prays*
Still avidly watching this, can't wait to see it finished Although that'll leave me empty and wanting more
No reply from Zotac support. The folks at the service center here are clueless. I'm never buying this brand again. It's beginning to look like I'll have to get a DFI H55 or something.
Yeah, but I'm 200$ in debt. I'd rather clear that before grabbing new CPU/Mobo/RAM/HSF. Plus, I'm not sure I'd find such a tiny HSF for LGA1156 :/
Going for DFI H55 .....Cool bhai..... Then change project's name from "PC3" to "PCi3"... Just a sugg.. Hope you get replacement soon.
Update from Zotac RMA. In other words, I'm f**ked. I really don't know what to do - $120 to RMA a $150 motherboard is silly. But no one in India seems to have this motherboard. Guess I'll keep trying to screw around and see if the dead will live once again.
Ouch man, sounds like you should just cut your losses with that board. Maybe go for the DFI like others suggested. On the other hand, couldn't you just return the board to the store you bought it from? Normally that's the first point of call for an RMA, rather than the manufacturer themselves.
stonedsurd, just wondering, whats wrong with the mobo? I just say cut your loses, get a DFI H55 and keep the Zotac and try to fix it yourself. Could be a bad cap...
If I were to change motherboards, it would have to be to an H55/57 board (basically anything capable of playing 1080p and blu-ray) but the trouble is, besides Zotac, no one has those boards. DFI has a P55 board that would require a separate GPU. Anyway, I'm not getting despondent, I'll keep buggering around with this board and try and kick some life into it. EDIT: What's wrong with the board is that it basically doesn't display anything. Powers up fine (fans spinning, HDD whirring and lights on) but nothing to the monitor. I've tried resetting the CMOS jumper, removing the battery, running with one stick of RAM, removed the USB WLAN adapter, pulled off the Blu-ray drive - nothing worked.
