Haha, yeah I do, but only if I must or if my conscience gets the better of me for letting the machine do all the work. This time it's the first, as this piece exceeds the work area (450x450mm max). The piece is roughly 600x400mm.

As for some progress, I finished the piece I started yesterday but didn't have time to start on the second one. Got myself a new toy though:

Seriously, how can I not buy something called a Powerfile? We're just meant to be

Anyways, filed the top down a bit and bent the edges:

Dunno when I'll get started on the second one I'm afraid, I hope tomorrow, but I'm not very good at sticking to my own schedule :wallbash:

I'll be cutting away the excess material on the front and back later on when the top and bottom are all finished up. It's actually starting to look pretty good now

    Thanks!

Edit: Noticed that I apparently don't even know the date, yesterdays update should have been Dec 5th.

As usual I did nothing on this case during the week, might aswell make it a rule to only mod during weekends :duh: Anyways, the progress...

Finished the bottom piece (did the top one last weekend).

This is how I'm planning to connect the two pieces:

    Some cutting, 5mm aluminium.

Cut off 3mm material en the ends of these to make them slot in nicely in the shell.

Did the same to the one on the other side, and they seem to fit nicely :)

That's it for this update, thanks for watching :thumb:

Having a CNC mill, making a lot of parts with it to build an awesome frontpage worthy case, and then do it again two months later :D

Good work Sleepstreamer, I'm a big fan of your work :thumb:

Amazing work, just love how each piece, each cut, each angle compliments the next one. Your work always inspires me.

Question: I'm having difficulty bending alu, I don't have a bending machine, and looking through your work log, there doesn't appear to be one, I was wondering if by chance you would be able to show or explain your technique ? I've hit a rough spot in my project and I require some bending but after my last attempt on previous mod, I'm a tad concerned, would like it to look as pro as your bending is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Sorry about this, but I'm actually using a bending brake to make the bends. I used to simply clamp the piece between two planks and use a hammer, or a brick to bend it, but this brake makes it so much easier. You should seriously think about getting one.

I really did think I had a pic of the thing in this thread... Here's one anyway:

Just got a box 'o' stuff from ACRyan, containing a load of molex connectors, pins, and an atx backplate.

    Awesome, thanks heaps!

I like, but it needs more distance between parts...(I've got 'can't-explain-itis' again.) -The extra depth will give you a more unique final shape 'n stuff.
