    Thats really, really hardcore.
Not many people would ever dare to mod a radiator, and you just go off and saw yours in half!:jawdrop:

modding community only encourages those 'are you nuts' mods some people do and get away with without actually destroying something. so: no 'are you nuts', only 'wow man, cool mod'

Yeah! If you had cut the rad in half and then asked us what kind of tape would seal it, we would have chewed you up.

I'll keep that in mind. Note to self: Keep the crazy experiments hidden until they work!

    Impressive

I just read the log start to finish and I am impressed. As most, the radiator experiment really got me, but overall this is just excellent stuff. To me this is what modding is about. Carry on!

#8 A little bit of something

I continued with rads for a bit. Today clearly isn't my day. I must have missed my breakfast of the champions.

First I started with some destructive leak searching.

Sure enough, at this point the brass sheet is loose. A dab of flux and soldering is underway.

I also fortified the rest of the neighborhood. Just to make sure.

While filing and cleaning the plate-sides, I also sanded the fitting joints.

Then I smudged some Plastic Packing's Super Spackel to the rugged surfaces. I clearly suck at this.

After sanding, there are still huge pits and craters all over the place! I shortly considered doing it again, but decided it wasn't worth the effort.

I still sprayed them with matt black just to make them look the part. Of course, I forgot to fire the first spray off target. :nono:
That is why the other bottom looks like grey sandpaper in the pic. It's really black but coarse.

I'm not really proud of these. They look horrible, but at least they won't show inside the case. The bottom of the rads will face an aluminum sheet and they will be hidden by pieces of acrylic.

For the next bigger update I'm planning on buying some plastic raw materials on Monday and trying them out on the lathe.
