Hi there. I always enjoyed the Colin McCrae games but of course there hasn't been one for some time now. What is the best rally game I can currently get for the PC?
I don't think there are any anymore, not since everyone decided selling energy drinks and DC shoes was more important than making a proper rally sim.
there are a few good ones out there, and the good thing is you don't need a really fast PC for some of them. Richard Burns Rally (RBR) is quite old, but loads of people still play it, really good physics model for it's time Dirt series are playable, but not what you are looking for in a Colin McRae-esque game Current WRC series, WRC 4 for this year, are very good, very playable, but some sort of multi platform development bug that means you really do need a fast PC for it to run and look good
RBR is supposed to be really good, especially with the RSRBR mod. WRC I didn't like, and it has (or had) no wheel support :/
As above, if you want a challenge get Richard Burns Rally. It's the best Rally sim I've come across but be warned, it takes a lot more getting used to than Codies driving games. I'll have to dig my old copy out and give it a whirl again, that RSRBR mod sounds good.
Not much out there really with the powerful pc in your sig guess you will just have to wait. I would skip rally and keep an eye out for next car game & project cars.
The wrc series has always felt a bit amateurish. Rbr is the best but hasn't aged too well dirt 1 was good but wheel support was rubbish. Dirt 2 was brilliant but the rally side of it was lacking and buried under dude bro rubbish and Dirt 3 felt slow the roads were so wide that crashing felt impossible.
Thanks for the comments all. Looks like there is nothing much then. Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk
Give RBR a try. Honestly, you'll be concentrating so hard you won't even blink let alone notice the graphics.
