I will redo the Unigine bench. I know of no one else with a 980.

Well, the Metro benchmark has definitely improved.

Kronos, can you talk us through what you did re installing drivers etc after reinstalling Windows?

    Redid Unigine heaven. [IMG]

Installed Windows, then drivers then the latest version of GPU drivers downloaded this morning.

I mean all drivers, not just the graphics drivers.

That is what I thought and my answer is the same mate. Installed Windows then Mobo ETC drivers then the GPU drivers.

OK. Which mobo drivers and where did you get them?

OK. Firstly, the drivers on the disk supplied with the mobo may be out of date. It's always best to get the latest ones for your mobo from the manufacturer's website. I recommend you do that.

Secondly, there will be a number of drivers for the motherboard. I'm trying to drill-down to the detail here mate - which ones exactly did you install?

I just express install them all. This time I did not let Windows update interfere and installed all drivers including the GPU ones before letting Windows update start it's job.

I'm inclined to go with what Crapman said. There's a 160+ page thread on Nvidias website about low gpu usage and poor fps on 900 series cards, which the guy in the thread Crapman linked actually mentions.

And did anyone come to conclusions in this 160+ thread I wonder?

OK. Well, see how you get on. Judging by the benchmarks, things have improved greatly since the reinstall so see how it performs with other games.

If you're still not happy, the next thing I'd do is get the latest mobo drivers from the Gigabyte website (always a good idea to get these instead of using the ones on the disk - it's one less thing to rule out when problems occur).

I read some of it, then my eyes glazed over. There were people reporting similar situations to yourself, gone from older cards to a 970/980 and saw worse minimums and just rather crappy performance.

They thread Crapman found was 4 pages long, though tbh the guy fixes his problem on page 2. Not saying it will work, but worth a shot if you're still not happy.

Would having someone else test this card be of use?

    What am I missing here?

Your new benchmark shows a 30-odd percent improvement over your previous and Harlequin's test run, and you're still not happy?

Lol. Let us just say I am happier but compared to Shirty's score on Metro it still lags somewhat.

Total Frames: 15626, Total Time: 171.2807 sec
    Average Framerate: 91.27
    Max. Framerate: 156.30 (Frame: 13020)
    Min. Framerate: 20.40 (Frame: 10612)

I just don't think it is quite as good as I was expecting but perhaps that is me. I have not gamed yet so will post back later once I have moved the secondary PC in to the new case.

If you get 2230 at max settings on heaven without overclocking, then that seems pretty dam fine to me. I've got my 970 overclocked to 1492 on a modded bios and score 1560 ish.
