Hi, I have a linux computer with only 1 integrated nic (gbit) and I need another connection, limited to 100mbit from the other side (my wireless router). I have a free pci slot and I have two spare cards: the first with a realtek 8139 chipset (10/100) and the other with 8169 (10/100/1000). wich one should I use? will I notice any difference, except for the pci card size?
what about Linux support for these two chipset? I know 8139 is very well supported (I used it for years without any problem), I am asking if 8169 is too.
