Ive got a rooted Desire HD running Mike's Android Revolution HD rom. If you are looking at that route (no pun intended), I rely on Set CPU (for over/ under clocking), Rom Manager and Titanium backup as a basic. I prefer the Dolphin HD browser to Opera as well (although Opera is much lighter and more form specific.

Has anyone mentioned Doubletwist yet as a media player, thats pretty good and I like Mobo player for videos as it will play anything I thow at it.

Root at your own risk by the way.....

I've got the Infuse 4G, pretty much AT&T's variant of the Charge and here are some apps that work for me:

NoLED is a great widget for those of us with AMOLED displays and no LED notification.

Zeam is an excellent launcher. More lightweight than ADW and Launcher Pro, has all the features I need.

Beautiful Widgets Lite includes the best weather forecast widget I've found so far, looks wonderful and works great. Full version includes a wider variety of widgets, none of which I needed.

Brightness Level and Screen Filter are a great pair of widgets for controlling your brightness.

Tapatalk is a great forum reader, worth the price IMO if you browse several forums.

QQPlayer is the best video player I've found, still waiting for the VLC port though..

Andy-83 is useful for me, dunno how often you'll find a use for it.

Tricorder is a great novetly app if you're a Star Trek fan, it actually works as well!

Also, check out the Amazon app store, they give away a different app every day.

Thanks guys. I've only just begun to scratch the surface of what I can do with this thing. So far I've got SNESoid and a various bunch of other neat apps. I can say without hesitation that this is the coolest piece of tech I've ever owned. It really amazes me. 4G is amazing. As fast as the internet I have at home (12Mbps down 4Mbps up).

Do you need to be rooted to run stuff like ADWlauncher/Launcher Pro? Is it easy to go back to the default launcher if you want to?

You don't need root, and it's dead easy to go back to stock.

Once you download/install a launcher, press the home button and you'll be promped to pick whichever launcher you want to open. It's really easy to compare different ones this way, and just uninstall whichever you dislike once you're done!

I'd recommend the Zeam launcher over all others. Less features, but it has enough options to not overwhelm you and it's very fast.

    Also, isn't the screen amazing?

You're lucky in the UK we won't be getting 4G for ages! (although HSDPA seems to work quite fast on my Wildfire)

Most of the UK doesn't even get that at home!

More on topic. Zeam is the best launcher I've tried.

Zeam was good, until the developer removed the scrollable widgets support. That is very unfortunate, as i invested into few scrollable widgets, so i had to switch to Go Launcher Ex.

"BackUpEverything" is a good app to do exactly what it says. Very helpful if you mod it, and/or something screws up. Then Linpack for Adroid if you OC it :p

GameDevStory claimed about a week of my life... seriously addictive.

Thinking Space is a really good mind map tool.
