Just FYI Lenny the 2680 V2 is running 1600mhz ram mate I recently upgraded it to 16gb so lost my 2133 haha. I should be far closer to Bindi than I am (Ivy E vs Haswell E) but my ram is nerfed because I wanted more of it.. I will add the link in mate now yeah cheers ! Edit. Link added to OP.
Well according to Guru3d the RyZen R7 [8c/16t] prices are as follows... 1800X [Boots Freq ~4GHz] - €599.99 [~£511] 1700X [~3.8GHz] - €469.99 [~£400] 1700 [~3.7GHz] - €389.95 [~£332] Might be slightly cheaper in £ as iirc Spain has a higher VAT rate than the UK does.
Am i missing because i didn't post a screengrab... or because my results were all over the place? [or is my pentium plain not worthy ]
I ran both 32bit and 64bit versions of blender on a 64-bit version of windowss, and regardless of the version used blender didn't even a use a 1GB of RAM [blender topped out at 400MB for the 32 bit render, 750 for the 64-bit render], let alone all 8. Also for the sake of curiosity I ran blender with only 4GB of RAM [but still at 2133MHz]. et voila! [32bit and 64bit versions of blender respectively] So RAM speed might affect the render... but amount doesn't.
Not directly related to this thread I know, but some 'rumoured' Ryzen prices have started to emerge: http://www.shopblt.com/search/order_id=!ORDERID!&s_max=25&t_all=1&s_all=AMD+AM4&search=Search https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/5swbw7/uk_ryzen_pricing_from_trade_distributor/
I tried the Benchmark too on a rather cheap PC: Intel i5 6600K @ 4,5Ghz 32GB 3000MHZ DDR4 RAM @ 2666Mhz 14-14-14-32 (That´s because my MSI Board cannot use the RAM @3000Mhz anymore since the last 3 BIOS Updates). Windows 10 Educational 64 Bit I don´t have a GPU so I have to use the Intel Onboard Unit too which might have also affected the score. 01:18.37
That seems to be a very low score considering your hardware (see above for similar computers) ... it should be around 50 seconds. Strange.
I get 739 Points in Cinebench R15 with my system (also with Intel Onboard GPU because of the lack of a true GPU). This value should be OK? Maybe Blender is not optimized for lower CPUs without HT? The Intel i5 6600K lacks this feature in comparison to a i7 6700K.
@oasked, 6600K doesn't have hyperthreading so the score will be considerably lower than HT chips. You won't get anywhere near 50 seconds with a non-HT quad core. I've updated the spreadsheet and will attempt a higher bench run later... 4.5GHz will be my daily and I have no idea what this chip is capable of. @RedFlames, your Pentium is plain not worthy. I'm only posting results for hyperthreaded chips - it is for a Ryzen comparison after all.
I updated the System with MSI Update and changed the CPU Clock @ 4600Mhz 01:17.29 Not a huge difference
this is from Hexus and a uk prices are alot less click here than 599euro price ex-vat £365.65 for 1800x which would put it at £438.78
I've updated the spreadsheet - I can beat Bindi's unoptimized 5960X, but I can't beat Ryzen. There are forum users with 6950X and also overclocked 5960X - it would be nice to see some of those apples!
