    Anybody got one of these?

I'm thinking of replacing an ASUS 4870X2 with one as my current card is just too noisy under load. Is the 5870 really as inaudible as the review states or does the noise pick up after lots of gaming?

    Thanks.

don't bother buying a new card just buy a new cooler for it
right now its not worth upgrading from last gen cards

Given the differences in power consumption and noise I'd say it could well be worth it Hovis, especially if he already has a card which is too noisy. Spending £30-40 on an aftermarket cooler seems mad on a card which is getting on a bit.

Having said that the performance isn't that much different, so it's swings and roundabouts really.

All reviews I have read say it is very quiet mate. Trying to find a card will be your biggest problem.

The Vapor-X is an exceptionally lovely card, if you can find it for the right price ;)

Looking over on Thermalright's site you need an HR-03 v2 and a V2 VGA, you might be able to find one on eBay/other forums now folks are starting to upgrade to the new 58x0's.

(Thermalright aren't the only people who do decent GPU coolers, but I'm a bit of a fanboy of theirs.)

[edit] eBay has an X1950+HR-03 for £19 atm, pretty good price once you factor in £15 for the X1950. :)

I've just ordered my Vapor this morning, but sadly Komplett won't actually have it in stock for up to 10 days. Testicles.

I think most (if not all places) are pre-orders.

Play seems to have the cheapest £329.99

It sure is a nice looking card. I still think it's worth waiting to see Nvida's new offerings.

:thumb: I wouldn't wait for nVidia's new cards unless you're happy to wait quite a few months. I'd expect a very expensive card which may not perform up to expectations, it will take a while for the rest of the performance and mainstream versions to appear, especially in numbers at reasonable prices.

I piad €432 for mine, so 378 sterling. Ouch. Then again I paid over €300 for my current 8800GTS 512 because I had no other option than PC World.... *shame*
