Just on and off? You can do that through software now, if your interested, but only between 4 things. Your call

peel that horrible yellow/orange sticker off the psu and polish the visible sides.

little dremel felt wheel and brasso action should make it happy, and then it wont compete with the frosting.

Nice but having the unmodded PSU behind the frosting kinda kills it. It'd look really good with a window and LED fan added inside the PSU.

Yes, I will take the label of, But ill do this when I get some braided sleeving to cover up the wires, then I wont have to keep taking the PSU it in and out.

A window would look good especialy with led fans I was thinking of doing this, when I have done the other things to it (all in one go)
I am adding switches for the other led fans to turn of when im asleep so having led fans in the PSU would defeat the object as I wont be able to turn the led’s off. Thinking of changing them for some quieter fans to put inside.

Yes I do agree, and its just different as well.

Yeah the gold of the PSU doesnt look quite right in the case, when the lights are off you cant really see it.

Have u thought about getting a bl00 led fan for the heatsink as the greeny/blue doesnt really go, at least cut the yellow asaka band off it.

You can get a direct replacement, bl00 fan up the road a novatech for £5.88 not cheep but is identical to that one (no grill though)

Like the case, carry on with it, looks good

Very tasteful with the frosting. Starting to look like a decent mod. Keep up the good work.

    PSU Mod!

Hello modders. Update on Savage PC: PSU Mod
Two things to be done: 1) Sleeving the cables and 2) A side window.

Here it is, it’s a Q-TEC 550w dual fan gold PSU.

The first thing was to sleeve all the cables with black braided sleeving, which I obtained from RS. (not a lot of pics on this, but I took all the Molex plugs of to slide the sleeving on and then heat shrink (took me about 3hrs to do it).

Then the second thing was to cut a window, but first I decided to get rid of the yellow sticker on the side (which was not easy)

The sticker had a thin piece of plastic that came off with ease, then scraping the rest of. However, it left a gluey surface.

I used some Surgical Spirit to wipe it of …
    [IMG]

    ….and clean the surface.

Now for the cutting of the widow.

I recently brought my self a Rotary Tool Kit (Dremel) it’s a Challenge Xtreme from Argos and at £25 with lots accessories it a bargain! :dremel:

Back to the mod, I cut a rectangle out of the side.

I filed and sanded the hole for the window.
I made the window out of a clear cd case and sanded it down to the prefered size and stuck it on the inside of the PSU lid with double sided sticky tape.

Here is the completed PSU with fitted window.

Here is a few shot's of the PSU inside the case. (looks like there is nothing in the PSU lol) :worried:
