20MP may be all well and good but I'll only buy it if the volume goes up to 11

Take 200 photo's in a month and there goes your data limit of your phone provider. A 20MP image is about 5000x4000 pixels which converts to a 3.3mb jpg.

Most people put it on facebook where the image is reduced to a 60 % compressed jpg image of 2000 pixels. There goes your 'quality' image out of the window.

I rather have a better and larger lens with 8mp that takes higher quality photo's with less data generation over all the mega/giga/ultra pixel sizes.

Are people forgetting the Nokia 808 PureView, released in February 2012 has a 41mp sensor, so what's the news? Sony are bringing out something half as good as what Nokia achieved over a year ago (more one and half by the time its released).

    1) Wait till you're at home and then transfer them over wifi
    2) 200 x 3.3mb is only 660mb, many phone contracts offer significantly more than that

The point a high resolution sensor in phones is so that you can use digital zoom without as much quality loss, as such it doesn't matter if after taking the picture some of the data is discarded
