It will take at least 3 years before the bill banning Road Angel's gets through parliment and even longer before it's enforced.

Will the Road Angel be banned under the proposed new legislation?
The proposed changes in legislation with regards to the banning of speed camera detectors will not affect the Road Angel.
Any Road Angel with an inbuilt laser detector will have the facility to be able to switch the laser alert off if required.

    Taken from the FAQ's

It's a grey area that they would struggle to police anyway!

For me the fastest was in a firends Mk5 (i think) Escort with Rs2000 running gear, we tootled along at arounf 140mph.

Then on another friends Kawizaki (sp!) 1100 ZZR we hit 110Mph he says.

But my personal fav is 38 mph downhill on my mountain bike.

I have a 1990 240sx and often took it past 100mph. The speedo maxes at 115 and I've occasionally had it fully past that mark, needle pegged. (estimated 130 mph) Yes I did get stopped for that little stunt. Cost me $560 and lost my license for 30 days, plus 2 points.

New car is 2002 maxima SE, had it to 120 mph when the rev limiter kicks in and drops the RPMs :(

quick explanation: the bewdley by-pass is worcestershires numero uno spot for speed testing and nerve. It's one brand spanky new piece of 'mac with a long sweeping curve going down hill before one long hill to a roundabout. I'll video an Audi A3 run later...

Speed is tested up and down the hill from the top roundabout.
All speeds tested with GPS on an ipaq + 5mph

    CAR - Up - Down

    Mk1 Fiesta 1100cc - 76 - 99
    Mk1 MR2 - 95 - 139
    Mk1 Corsa 1.2 - 85 - 105
    Mk2 Corsa 1.4 - 95 - 112
    Civic 1.6 V-tec - (wasn't in car on way up) - 141
Audi A3 3.2 Quattro - 145 - 153 (Written off 2 days later speed taken from clock as well)
    Mini Cooper 1100cc - 75 - 85

That's the list so far with many more cars to do, the other one is the switchback which is done on timed runs but that's another story..

As a passenger in a WRX "we" got to 120mph and almost hit a Formula Ford in the process :eeek:

Whilst driving my Dad's car, I got to ~97mph before I ran out of road.

And about 90mph in my huge 954cc 106 XN :D It really doesn't like going that fast :grr:

All on private roads of course.

    150 in the Aston.
Scarier, though was about 40 down a twisty single track lane where the road was about a foot wider than the car. So glad we didn't hit anything.

One of my mates has gone around the Nurburgring in a Westfield SEight. :jawdrop: broke a front wishbone goin over one of those curbs.

Oh yeah, I think I read in this months Evo that the Radar Detector bill didn't get through.

I've done 115 downhill on the A3 near me at 3 in the afternoon in my (get this) 1.4 HDi pug 206, she really doesnt like it, basically redlining too, i do it on a regular basis...well fun! especially undertaking lorries on the hard shoulder :D

Edit: As for the guy above me regarding 40 on country lanes, thats poor! ive done about 80 on a road that has a 4 foot deep swamp ditch on either side of the road for about 4 miles, at kinda peak traffic time, mainly because there is a sweet bridge to jump off just after it, so its worth building the speed up.

last time i really went nuts, doing 100 on a country lane, i slowed for this corner, but not enough, and it was sooooo lucky there was a compost heap in the way, otherwise i woulda totalled my car at 60 in to a brick wall! nearly went through the guys flowerbed too! that was well funny i must admit though!

i must admit im rather light hearted about my driving!

edit again: before i get flamed, i quite obviously dont undertake on the hard shoulder, im not that stupid. to be fair, none of us should have licenses driving at these speeds.

    Only as a passenger:

About 140 in my mate's Audi TT. I pretended I was driving too, it's a left-hand drive. Silly.

About 125 in my friend's Civic... But wasn't that fun really. What was scary as hell was doing about 100 in the same car down pitch black A and B roads on the way home from work one night.

    190. Metric, that is :( haha...

2005 Toyota Camry: 190km/h (118mph) -- Tires are rated up to that speed
2000 Chevy Malibu: 175km/h (109mph) -- speed limiter at that point (gogogo family car!)
    2001 CCM Heat (Bike): 75km/h (47mph) -- downhill, of course ;)

I got cautioned for overtaking a police car at around 47mph on a pushbike once...

It was about halfway down a hill of about 1.5 miles in length - hill starts out at about 5 degrees, the middle is about 20 degrees and the last bit is about 10 degrees.

I stopped about 500m further down the road after the hill and pretended I'd suddenly lost use of my brakes...Scary time :/
