Is there any way I can see or access my old x86 partitions in windows 7?

The x86 partitions are NTFS and they where created in Vista.

I am able to get to them by using paragon and then exporting them but its a long and laborous process that locks up the computer for hours, quite literally even the screen goes blank :waah:.

Any way to access these partitions normally would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Isitari.

P.S. I thought I had posted this already but it didn't show up.

Is it a dual boot? If it is you will probably need to go back into Vista and change the privileges of that partition to <everyone-Full Rights>

    argh damn! :wallbash:

Vista HDD just went down. Knew it was on the way out. So can't change privileges.

    Thanks for suggestion though.

Any other way I could do it?

I have access to a Linux Live disc for example. Would that work?

I'm sorry to say I have no experience of Linux boot CD. If you had the Windows Ultimate boot CD then there would be a drive recovery app on it to retrieve your data. I'm really sorry to hear you have this prob as I have been conversing with a few other users about making hard copies of data for back up. Irony eh? Keep the thread up top and someone should be able to give more info on the Linux CD.

As a student of IT I would seriously sugest downloading the Windows and Linux Ultimate Boot CD/DVD as they are free and very handy.

    Please specify "can't access".

If the drive doesn't even show up in Computer, then it's just not mounted. Go to Disk Management ("dismgmt.msc" in the run box), right click the partition and choose "Assign drive letter" or such.
